Journals & Wedding Bells

ART JOURNALS : Doing Art Journals was the last thing I ever thought I would do… much less enjoy. This is a brand new art discovery for me. I started out very slow…didn’t want to jump in with both feet so I took apart two Tattered Angels  albums {I love the paper that is used in them}. I figured IF I liked this process I would then bind them into my SO CALLED Art Journal. I worked on these individual pages off and on from Jan. to the end of April and created 35 pages. Surprisingly I really enjoyed this process so I took off my training wheels and started my big-girl Art Journal at the beginning of May.

Creating backgrounds has become one of my favorite parts {still not big on the journaling…baby steps} and using Tattered Angels paint mediums is so rewarding for the incredible designs that can be created. So I would like to share with you a few of the pages I created this month. They are self-explanatory but I’ve listed the Tattered Angels paint mediums & colors used.

Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mists: Cornflower Daze, Sprout, Grape Ape, Teal High Heel. Golden Gesso, Tim Holtz masking tape, 7 Gypsies tissue paper.

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists: Bell Bottom Jeans, Cadillac Pink, Frost & Piece of Heart. Golden Gesso, Tim Holtz masking tape, Tattered Angels Stamps & Ten Seconds Studio Alphabet Stamps.

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists: Marmalade, Sun Sisters & Trunk Bay. Tattered Angels Glaze: Penny Loafer. Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze: Peach Bellini & Tide Pool. Golden Gesso. Stamps from Donna Downey Collection & Julie Balzer Collection.

Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze: Golden Goddess. Tattered Angels Chalkboard: Inchworm. Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Turquoise Blue. Tattered Angels Butterfly screen & stamp.

WEDDING FANS ~ The other project I created this month was  set of fans that could be used for a wedding celebration. I wanted a DIY project that was inexpensive and that could be created using any papers and flowers that one might have at home.

The first fan was a part of the recipe cards for the month of May and the directions can be found here. I want to show a closeup of the Prima Canvas Mistables and flowers that I used, I love how incredibly simple this concept is.

While I was creating this I thought that it would be easy enough to kick it up a notch so using the same colors I used in the first fan and changing the paper this is what I created. It also turned out to be a great stash buster with a little help from Tattered Angels.

TATTERED ANGELS PAINT MEDIUMS: Glimmer Glam: Chandelier, Love Potion No. 9, Organic Garden, Tide Pool. Glimmer Mist: Cherub Pink, Cranberry Zing, Patina, Turquoise Blue, Key Lime Pie, Olive Vine & Old Lace.

PRIMA: Paper ~ Madeline Collection, Canvas Mistable ~ # 549763, Flowers – White Innocence Collection.

K&C Company Adhesive Pearls, White Tulle/Ribbon, Craft Balsa Wood Fan {any craft store…$1.00}, HELMAR 450 Quick Dry & Scrap Dots & Claudine Hellmuth Matte Multi Medium

And here is a close-up of all the dyed to match Prima flowers and a piece of antique lace.

I hope you enjoyed my projects this month. It was a real eye opener to really grasp the possibilities that are offered when you use Tattered Angels paint products. It’s like a whole new world opened up.

Make sure you stop back and check out the remaining Design Team members have created. I know they don’t like coming at the end of the month but I know that you’ve got some incredible artists waiting to show you what they have up to! Thanks for stopping by.

See you next month 😉

Beautiful!! Especially like all the ways you’ve incorporated butterflies. They are so hopeful!

The fans are a great idea, and would be a pretty alternative to bouquets!

Wow Matha, your Art Journal is beautiful..hard to believe that this is your first try. I have the same thoughts you did about Art Journaling, but you have inspired me to maybe start one but I don’t know where or how to start. Any tips?
