Adult coloring isn’t limited to coloring books or printed sheets. Rubber Stamping was and is another version of adult coloring and are coloring sheets like our latest Mixed Media Origins Papers. These papers take coloring and your imagination on a whole new adventure. The weight and density hold the inks, paints, pens, markers and pencils very well. They are some of our favorite new products in our line. Today CCB Crew Member Christine of Christine’s Scrap Shack has merged the properties of mixed media, laced it with coloring and has now taken the concept of adult coloring to the next level. The results are amazing.
This no fail project is perfect for all levels and all it requires is some imagination from you. Oh and a few of our mixed media origins papers and Tattered Angels inks. The rest is up to you…Let’s get started with Christine….
A dear family member of mine loves owls and as soon as I got my hands on the beautiful Mixed Media Origins papers, I knew I had to make a lace & wings frame. Mix it with some pretty 7 Gypsies Lace Trimmings, Canvas, Burlap & Tattered Angels paints, the result is a feminine frame that is nature inspired. Thanks to the intricate prints of the Mixed Media Origins Papers, adult water coloring has never been more enjoyable & therapeutic.
Materials Used:
7 Gypsies Materials:
Start with your focal point and in this case it is the owl from the Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins Paper – Hoot.
Apply you mist and other paints with a brush onto the paper using the outlines and highlights as a guide, this is your time to art and do it your way!!!
The English Ivy Glimmer Mist is the perfect natural green background for the owl, lace & butterflies. Paint in the butterflies, flowers, leaves and other items from the papers to create you own layout, fussy cutting them.
The 2×2 Stretched Canvas Minis in burlap or canvas, make great accents to the fluttering butterflies. Add some Sisal Rope to them for extra texture & prettiness.
Mix & match your Glimmer Mists shades to achieve depth with your coloring. I topped some glossy accents to the owl’s eyes for a more piercing look.
Cut out some inspirational words from the Watering Can’s Garden Words On Ivory Reverse Paper & back them with Burlap & Canvas Fringe & some more lace. “If Nothing Ever Changed There Would Be No Butterflies”
Layer more than one Mixed Media Origins Paper & admire your personalized creation. This paper is very unique and strong, so it is great for adding dimensional pieces to your artwork.

If you are adding flowers to your design and the colors are not right, you can mist silk and paper flowers to tint them to match your design.
And here’s the finished product framed. I hope I’ve inspired you to get your Tattered Angels Paints & brushes out, & start coloring some beautiful Mixed Media Origins Papers.
