Easter is finally here! Some of us have been ready for weeks and their homes and gardens are full of happy bunnies and colourful eggs. Some of us are only just starting their last-minute preparations. Even if your ideas range from altered styrofoam eggs to cards with bunnies and chicks, Canvas Corp Shop has all the materials you need to make things happen.
Our Crew member, Jennifer Hottinger-Sloan also found some bits and pieces to repurpose her egg-shaped easel and adapt it into a head-turning piece welcoming her Easter dinner guests.
‘I have made a last minute Small Easter Easel for hall table décor to welcome people into Easter Dinner. It goes great with my Canvas Corp Bunny I made last year. I used the back of the Architextures lantern packaging as I didn’t want to waste that great texture and because I have a problem throwing anything out!’ – says Jennifer.
Materials used:
Egg Shaped Chalk Board Easel
Canvas Corp Jute Natural
Canvas Corp Canvas Circle Shape
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Dragonfly
7gypsies Architextures – Old Lantern
G45 Buttons
Alphas
Chalk Board Pen
Zip Dry Glue
Scissors
Cut a length of jute that will be long enough to go around the edge of the egg several times. Wrap the jute around the egg gluing it down as you go; continue to wrap until the whole edge is covered.
Take a canvas circle and cut it with scissors making slits in the circle to almost the middle. Spray lightly with Tattered Angels Mist. Scrunch up the edges of the petals.
Remove the background from the Architextures Old Lamp and cut out the corner pieces – the will make a great background.
Lay down the bits of Architextures background and on top layer the flower and buttons that have been tied with jute.
With a chalk marker, make small white dots around the edge. To finish, add lettering to the egg.
What a lovely and quick way to decorate your home for Easter. Using scraps of packaging and pieces of canvas, you will be able to make an eye-catching piece.
