Make Your Own Spring Snow Globe

With a cheeky smile Tonya Trantham is saying goodbye to Winter today.
She alters an old snow globe (snow = Winter) and turns it into a welcoming and colourful Spring and Easter inspired globe.

I found the musical snow globe sitting in my husband’s study window – all the water evaporated and the base and the “winter scene” bleached from the sun. I thought this would be fun to give the globe new life by altering and creating a Spring scene inside.

Materials used to alter the snow globe:
Tattered Angels Decor and DIY Paint –  Ivory

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – GoldRum Punch
Tattered Angels Simply Sheer – Soft PeachBaby Blue
Canvas Corp 80# White Cardstock
7gypsies Gypsy Moments paper – Take Our Breath Away
Dew Drops, Flat Back Pearls, Pearl Sprays
Sequins, Moss, Chipboard
Bunny Image from the Internet
Beacon Adhesive Zip Dry
Sizzix: Eileen Hull and Tim Holtz Dies
Scissors, Paper Cutter, Paint Brush, Die-cut Machine, Stylus

Since there were screws in the bottom, I took it apart and cleaned it inside-out and taped off around the glass globe before painting.

I applied two coats of Ivory Decor and DIY Paint and once dry, removed the tape around the glass globe.

I cut an assortment of flowers, leaves and greenery from White Cardstock and 7gypsies Gypsy Moments: Take Our Breath Away Paper using the following diecuts: Flower and Leaf Stitchlets, Stitchy Flowers and Leaf and Holiday Greens Dies.

I used Glimmer and Simply Sheer mists to paint the flowers. I spritzed the different mists onto a piece of glass and then poured a small amount of water so the colors would blend and placed each flower into the colors.
Once the color was absorbed, I moved each flower to the side of the glass to dry. I love the soft mingled colors of each flower.

I drew a circle on chipboard that would fit the opening of the globe and cut out along with a bunny image that I found on the internet. I wadded up a piece of tissue paper, adhered to the center of the circle along with the bunny – this created a ‘podium’ for the bunny to stand on.

Next, I covered the tissue with moss and shaped the flowers before adding them to the arrangement. To the centers of the flowers I added Dew Drops, mini flat back pearls and sequins. I finished the scene with a few pearl sprays.

I adhered the arrangement to the inside lip of the globe and then added painter’s tape to keep it in place.
Once the adhesive dried, I removed the tape and screwed the music box back inside of the base.

This was a very simple project to create even though it looks labor intensive – it wasn’t.
Are you now ready to find your own snow globe to alter?

Happy crafting!!!
