March Challenge "Spring & Butterflies"

This month we seek inspiration in the upcoming spring! Soft colors, butterflies & silky sunshine. We decided to call our March Challenge “Spring & Butterflies” and we hope that you find inspiration to participate in this fun challenge.

To enter this challenge you need to link up your entry Blog post, or post on Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest (link to the actual project – not the whole page) by using the linkytool below. You have until the end of April 4 to submit your project! All submissions must have #ccbchallenge somewhere to be considered.

Only 1 entry per person allowed. Are you a previous winner? That does NOT exclude you for winning again – please join in!! We also want to you to include at least 1 item from any of the Canvas Corp Brands (please mention the product so we know).

We will invite the winner of the challenges to be our Guest Designer. This means that they will get a box filled with goodies from all 3 Canvas Corp Brands to play with.

“As most of you know, my dear mother passed away in January. I saved some flowers from the funeral to dry and thought this challenge would be perfect to use them. I wanted it to be soft and spring-like & also wanted it to reflect hope which ties in with growing and the newness of spring.

I combined some of the paints to make my own pale purple. I varied the strength of the colors by adding more or less water, dipping directly into the bottles. The paper is mounted onto a thin cardboard and lightly framed with black pencil around the edges. The colors are soft and shimmery & create a beautiful muted background to the vibrant dried flowers. Hope springs eternal…”

“I created a large paper bag decorated with flowers and sentiments from the Architextures Rub On’s Grow set, along with a Butterfly cut from a sheet of Canvas Corp paper, all coloured using Tattered Angels Baseboard Paints. I love using bags in projects, and now this one is ready to be included into a garden themed junk journal.”

“I layed canvas with Canvas circles, Lace and tulle circles, applied white roses and metal butterflies, Handmade flowers with lace and then applied a layer of gesso. I purposely missed spots or entire flowers knowing that the mist will soak into the paper and be more vibrant. Once the canvas dried I used Marigold mist followed by Tuscan sun glimermist and used mallard around the edges. I let it set over night and when it was dry I added some cheesecloth behind the butterflies and last step was adding the lace around the edge of canvas”

“Inspired by the warming temperatures and promise of new growth, I created this magnetic wall hanging. I started out with a piece of roof flashing from the hardware store and covered it with a piece of 7 Gypsies Moments paper. I then added more High Impact Paint in light pink to the edges. I wanted to create more depth and texture so I tore a piece of frayed cotton paper and misted it with some watered down High Impact Paint in aqua. Creating more interest, I added a strip of the background paper on top. Using Tattered Angels Color Wash I dyed a piece of vintage lace with Weathered Copper and gessoed over it to mute the color. I applied all the layers and added a metal flower that I also used the High Impact Paints on. I finished up the layers by giving some chipboard letters a coat of Aqua High Impact Paint and Stickles. I cut out the butterfly from the Butterflies on Ivory 12 x 12 sheet and gave it a quick color and added Stickles to the antenna and wings. I used a vintage button and adhered magnet to it and attached the cute card. Finally, I punched two holes at the top of the metal and tied a scrap of silk through and added a beaded charm to tie the look together.”
