Metal, my love…

Hi, it is my turn to convince you that Tattered Angels products are just perfect to work with metal objects… ok, I have to admit I adore metal objects – especially the everyday ones – I just love collecting them, then incorporating them my projects and altering them with color medias. It is like addiction. Every time I feel there’s “something missing” on my page I add a sprocket gear and it suits perfectly 😉

My first project, “Swing” is a canvas assemblage layout with “starring” altered fork. It was put on the small canvas blank, which I covered with papers, collored with Glimmer Mists in shades of pink and brown: Vintage Pink, Black Cherry and Sand and a hint of Meadow Green and my favorite Black Magic. The papers were covered with glue, embellished with chipboard letters, buttons and metal objects and then sprayed and dryed.

The fork was all covered with Sugar Cane Glimmer Glaze, embellished and then extra sprayed with Glimmer Mists. The next step was adding a “swing” made of chains and a nail – a perfect one for the little Infant from Velázquez painting – and to finish the layout adding some extra color on the girl, the fork and the background – Chianti Glimmer Glaze.

The paper layout I made this month – “Morning” has got 2 flowers cut of a piece of aluminium (old coke cane is perfect for this) which I colored with Glimmer Glazes: Chianti, Oil Slick and Waterfall and Organic Garden Glimmer Glam.

The colored flowers were also touched a bit with some gesso, to create more delicate effect. The floursihes are covered with Oil Slick Glimmer Glaze and a coat of glossy medium.

The whole layout background was made with Tattered Angels sprays: Inchworm Chalkboard Glimmer Mist and Bahama Blue Glimmer Mist, sprayed on the wet paper surface. The pattern under the photo was made using a stencil and black ink and the white damasks in the corners are the dye-resist elements of the paper. The bird stamps and the photo  were also colored with Glimmer Mists – I used a very small paintbrush and some water.

I couldn’t resist this assemblage project. When I found this old, heavy door lock it was all covered with rust – and I loved it from the first sight! I knew I had to take it home and give it a second chance… It is very heavy so placing it on the small, 13×18 cm canvas blank was a kind of a challenge, but finally the Carvable Modeling Paste seemed to be a good choice. I let it dry a bit and started embellishing… with all that I had on my desk 😉

Modeling paste combined with found objects and Color medias like Glimmer Mists and Glimmer Glams are my all-time favs. Here I took Glimmer Mists in the shades of red, pink, purple and blue: Raven, Sapphire, Candy Apple Red, Black Cherry and Lavender Fields.

The key and the chipboards were painted with two beautiful Glimmer Glam colors: Be Positive and Golden Goddess, which gave them amazing sparkles. I also used the Golden Goddess to add some gold shades to the other parts of the layout – it worked perfectly!

The “Open” assemblage shows that there’s a lot of hidden beauty in our everyday life, things that are around us, common an well known… I think it may be inspiring for you to open yourself,  look at them from a new, different perspective and find posibilities to show how marvelous they are.  I know it works, and it is addictive… NowI cant live without it;)

I hope you found some inspiration in my ideas 🙂 I send you the best creative vibes – and see you again soon!
