We are so excited everyday to work with an amazing group of designers, each one bringing something special to the group, sharing new techniques, new ways to use their craft supplies, showing us new approaches when working with our product lines, etc. Today we share another post in our new series for 2017 where we will be featuring our Crew letting you get to know a bit about each one, where they are from, what inspires them, their favorite products, their favorite Canvas Corp Brands project and more.
If you are not familiar with the Canvas Corp Crew it is a group of amazing designers from around the world the have come together to create, share ideas, support each other, let us know what we can do better and remind us of what we are doing well. Our Crew is made up of about 100 designers who contribute projects to our blog, design with our products on their blogs, create models for our trade shows, packaging and other fun little projects. We love to hear what they have to say, to be inspired by their work and to learn new things everyday.
Today, we get to know Milo Lilja.
Where do you reside?
I live in two places: Trollhättan, Sweden and Rincon de la Victoria, Spain – I move between those countries – 6 months here, 6 months there…
Describe your design style…
I love creating in shabby chic, a lot of white, lace, crackle, mixed media, vintage, but I also like steampunk and gothic style. I always make a lot of layers and use many small details.
Who or what do you give credit to inspiring your creativity?
I love to search for inspiration on Pinterest, but I get inspiration from everything. I can find something on the street and get tons if ideas.
What inspires you most today?
I keep finding beautiful stuff everywhere; I found some beautiful shells on the beach that I want to make some cool stuff with.
What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? and why? Just one please!!!!
I love the beautiful flower embossed paper. It’s very useful for coloring, making details or just to use as a beautiful accent.
Milo shared with us her favourite project using CCB Products:
Why is it your favorite?
I’m satisfied with the colors and how it turned out with my handmade flowers and the beautiful paper.
Do you teach and if so tell us a bit about what you teach, where you go and some of your favorite places?
I have been in Norway and had some classes on how to make a 3D shoe, and how to build up a card. I have had classes in some shops, showing how to build up cards and layouts and also how to work with stamps, emboss and a lot more.
I am the happiest doing…
Right now it seems like I’m stuck making ATC cards. I love to decorate the small area 6,4×8,9 cm.
My favorite place to be creative…
Home, in my crafting room where I have access to all my stash.
Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space…
I have an old beautiful leather covered Bible from 1864, that I tear pages from to use in my creations.
Tell us one thing fun about you we might not know…
I have been collecting rubberstamps, and I have around 6500. I started buying them in 1995 together with my dear cousin Lisa, aka “Inky Wings”. That year we only had a few (10?) to buy in Sweden so we ordered from Germany and England.
Share with us anything about your creative life that you feel would inspire others…. If something goes wrong, just see it as a new opportunity and a new idea.
I am a mixed media crafter with passion for layers and textures. Architextures are my new love and I can feel the relationship going from strength to strength in the foreseeable future. I have worked with CCB since January 2017 and it felt like home straight away. The team is amazing and the crafting products are even better, which makes it perfect combination and an amazing place to be.
