Miscellanies Holiday Junk Journal

The Canvas Corp Miscellanies papers look great as they are, but add a little Tattered Angels Paints and the papers become your designs.  The papers come two ways – 6 different patterns that measure 4″x6″ and the other style is an all over 12×12 version.  

What you will need:

• Canvas Corp Ivory 4×6 File Folders
• Canvas Corp Kraft 4×6 File Folders
• Canvas Corp 2×2 Stretched Burlap
• Canvas Corp Red Waxed Cotton Cord
• Canvas Corp Miscellanies Papers
• Canvas Corp Large Kraft & White Paper Bags
• Canvas Corp Black Hemp
• Canvas Corp Black Ticking Fringe
• Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze – Chianti & Sea Kelp
• Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Olive Vine & Lobster
• Recollections Pegz Stamp Set (alphabet stamp)
• Glue

Tools:  Paper cutter, scissors, sewing machine

Cut a piece of jute cord and stitch or glue it into place.  The sewing machine might hold a bit better, so make sure to use a strong glue.  The white contrast stitching looks great.  Do this to the center book pages only and it will hold the book together.  

Layer and assort the bags and file folders to create the pages of your book with the stitched folder on the top and it becomes the inside page of the book.

Use the black cord and wrap it around a few times and tie tightly to put your book together.  

Now it is time to decorate.  Paint or color in the your papers and cut them into 4″x6″ pieces.  You can create as many as you like…one for each page in your book.

Adding painted touches with Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glaze looks great and makes the papers have a one of a kind holiday look that you create.  

Glue papers to each page in your book – you can glue them down, or leave the top or side open to create pockets for photos or recipes.  The File Folder tabs are perfect for noting what is inside each little section.

Mix up the papers using the painted papers and the printed papers in red, gold, hunter and black and white, they all look great together.  You can add photos, recipe cards or a journal card each day as you count down to Christmas.

Create the front cover by choosing your favorite painted papers like this holly paper.  The Glimmer Glaze allows the art to show through and looks amazing.  We used the Pegz Stamp to write the word Christmas – they are great just move the Pegz around to create any word – put the family name, Recipes, Photos….you get to decide with one set of stamps.

Wrap the mini stretched burlap like a gift with the cord and a strip of paper. These mini gifts are great ornaments too.

Your journal is now ready to be given as a gift, filled with treasures or special holiday memories.
