Mixed Media Canvas 3 Ways

With the variety of supplies and materials available in our CCB shop there are unlimited ways of expressing your creativity.
Today, we have for you three very different ways of mixed media altered canvas with a variety of Architextures elements, Tattered Angels paints and … our Creative Crew imagination.

Destination Unknown – Monica Taylor

I love to travel! Sometimes I don’t even know where I will end up and that is part of the adventure. I decided to create a wall canvas to remind me that there is always an adventure waiting and you don’t necessarily need to make big plans, you just need to go!

Materials used:
Architextures Artboard 8×10
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Coffee shop
Architextures Parchment Rub-ons – Build
Architextures Trinkets findings and treasures – Travel Luggage, Spectacles, International coins
Architextures – Salvage Art
7G Clear Stamp – Travel
Passport ticket, Nail tacks, Washi Tape
Copper Crackle texture paste, Distress Collage medium
Carte Postale stamp, Tim Holtz film strip tape

• Spray canvas with Coffee Shop Glimmer mist and rub mist to cover canvas completely.
• Add Parchment rub ons to cover canvas. Add copper crackle texture paste onto canvas using burlap stencil on sides and Deco Art stencil on canvas surface.
• Add Postmark Rubbing elements onto surface of canvas. Add washi tape and Film Strip tape.
• Decorate canvas using Architextures Trinkets and Findings. Add Salvaged Art ephemera using Distress Collage medium.
• Stamp Destination Unknown onto paper using 7G Clear Stamp – Travel

Mermaids – Luciana Warnowski

I was inspired by this beautiful collection and especially with this mermaid! The Mixed Media Origins collection of special papers for mixed media is fantastic and I was able to work using the glimmers for coloring, mixing with watercolor and ink.

Luciana used the following CCB materials:
Canvas Corp stretched canvas 12×12
Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins paper – Mermaid
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists – Aquamarine, Crushed Shells, Red Tipped Rose and English Ivy
Tattered Angels High Impact paint – Rose Gold
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze – Saffron

I made a canvas using the paper from the Mermaids collection. The texture and weight are perfect for working in mixed media and the TA Glimmer Mists! I even made the background with watercolor solute and I used the TA High Impact paint to highlight the details. I put a chain all the way around for a more nautical look and to give a more romantic air, I put flowers and natural shells.

Roots – Alicja Staszak

I’ve made this family canvas on a wooden board. I thought it would be perfect choice to the quote I’ve used. I’ve mixed some colours and added white gesso to make it brighter. Last step was to glue the composition from twigs and tree bark.
