Does your tree match your home or do you decorate in fun traditional colors? Everyone does it their own way these days. Traditional is really not traditional anymore, anything goes and some homes have up to a dozen trees. There are many ornament options on the market that let you design a tree for the space, for your hobby, for a collection or just for fun. Sometimes however you cannot find just the right style, color or look you have in mind, so why not make the ornaments? You can start with some old ornaments you would like to makeover or you can start with simple clear or white balls. One fun thing to consider is making a few different styles, but you will want to make a few of each one to show them off in different places around the tree. Crew Member Tatiana created a beautiful ornament in browns, turquoise, gold and black. It’s so trendy and something we know you won’t find just anywhere. It is also a great way to use up scraps and bits and pieces that can be transformed with color.
This is fun way to decorate your own designed Christmas ball. This could be an amazing present for your friends or relatives, or could be a unique decoration for your Christmas tree. Each ball created by your hands is going to be absolutely individual, it all depends on your style. If you are making just one, choose any style, color palette and materials that you are drawn to. If you are making more than one and want them to coordinate, gather an assortment of papers, materials, paints and other goodies in one color palette and only use those items so all your Christmas balls coordinate. You can try and make them the same, but don’t worry…similar is great.

Here is a video that will walk you through how to make this beautiful Christmas Ball.
If you are not familiar with Canvas Corp’s Tissuestock you have been missing out. This high quality tissue is not like the gift wrap tissue you see that is thin almost to the point you can see through it and water makes it simply fall apart. Nope, this tissue is different and has a thin coating of wax to help it stand up during your craft projects. It is available in kraft, white and ivory and a few prints, they are wonderful to work with. The blank sheets can be stamped, colored and misted to create your own style. Keep in mind if you are going to decoupage with them you will want to use permanent ink or paint so that it will not smear or run when you get it wet.
If you are giving your ornament as a gift, find a special little box, crate or gift bag and fill it with a natural shred, add pine cones, maybe a few wooden cut outs, and a pick or two of coordinating holiday decor.
Happy Holiday Creating!!!
