We love fun ways to show off photos and this layout is the perfect way to show off a few of this cutie pie. One fun thing about this layout is there is no gluing. Just paper, paint and a sewing machine. It was fun to see if we could challenge ourselves to do a layout with no glue and we love how it turned out.
First things first, we painted our Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins paper Steampunk October, love the haunted house, don’t you. We achieved a sepia style look by using one color of Chalkboard Mist – London Fog and we love how it stands out. The black bugs are filled in with Glimmer Glam- Pitch Black and sparkle just right. We also added a bit of orange Glimmer Mist – It’s Orange for the final accent color.
After the paper was dry and we have to say we love that it dries so flat with all the water we added we were ready to create our layout. A stitch through the center of our Orange Burlap Fringe with our Brother Sewing Machine using white thread so it shows up just right.
Then a bit of Grey Ticking Fringe with another fun stitch from our machine, we love trying different stitches and sewing anything we can get our hands on. They are really just straight stitches, but they look like we know what we are doing!!!!
Next is was time to add the photos. We had copies made so we could see how this works without ruining our originals and we have to say, we are in love. Using a wider stitch we sewed the photo right into place. The white thread is a nice accent and the fun stitch frames the photo.
To show off our 12×12 layout we grabbed a barn wood frame and filled the inside with grey ticking. Then glue 2 Small White Clothespins into place to hold the layout.
Slip the layout into the clothespins and find the perfect spot around your Halloween Decor and show off your great photos and you handiwork.
Hope your Halloween days are filled with creativity!!
Happy Creating!!!
