My space in The Shed

My Darling Hubby has a BIG shed and has been so generous as to give me the best room. Almost the entire north wall is glass which allows for beautiful natural light all day.

It is directly above, and has the floor space of, a 2 car garage. It is right under the roof so it doesn’t have a lot of wall space which could make storage a problem for any-one else, it’s not a problem for me because I tend not to ‘store’ much. I like to have things out and visible otherwise they don’t get used.

This is my desk….A plastic cupcake stand on a lazy susan (at far left) holds adhesives, needles, string, and my favourite punches, the yellow tray in front holds distressing tools, Dymo, and small trimmer. To the right is my collection of mini 7 Gypsies stamps, brads, coloured staples, a large shallow basket that holds my chipboard collection, and a cigar box full of leftover little bit’s & pieces. I have made a little horse-shoe around myself where I work, with my papers, coloured cardstock, stencils, rub-ons, and bling on a trolley at my left…and my favourite quote books, black, white & Kraft cardstock, big trimmer, small frequently used punches, and flowers that don’t fit elsewhere, in a trolley to my right…My thickers sit at my feet in front of this trolley in a gorgeous vintage magazine rack found at a garage sale…I have a separate table set up as my misting/painting station. I keep all my Tattered Angels products in cheap plastic containers separated into colour groups with sheets of cardboard. Behind the mists I have all my masks in concertina folders according to size and brand, easy to get to.Below is the top of an open cupboard which houses rarely used items and things that do get stored (like 12×12 plastic bags and boxes)and has on top (l-r) office drawers with spare adhesives and rarely used tools, a stack of vintage books for crafting, a box of art mediums, and a basket of punches that I don’t use a lot. Here is my bookshelf with lots of vintage crafting books, knitting patterns, picture books, and my collection of mags I have been published in. This is my inspiration station 🙂 The boxes on top hold all the kids’ scrap supplies for when they come and play with me. To the right you can see the edge of the blue corner lounge, and I have a beautiful antique silk opera jacket from my Great Aunt Bobby hanging just above it.Behind where I sit (on a rolling chair) are these storage drawers from the cheap-shop. They hold all my stamps, inkpads, and various embellishments (buttons, flowers, bling, metals, acrylics, fabric swatches…). When I want something I just push myself over to them and grab stuff (a bit of childish fun). They are labelled with Dymo…Another family heirloom which I rescued from going to the dump, my Great Grandmother Mayne’s fabric basket, I love this, it sits under my TV table.I love music while I create so Hubby installed a car stereo with quadrophonic sound (a speaker in each corner of the room) into an old bookshelf where I can keep my CDs.So that is where I create. I feel very privileged to have such a wonderful space, a space that is all mine and has a lock on the door 🙂  It’s my haven from chaos.

Now that you’ve had the guided tour I’ll show you some of the pages I have created here with my Tattered Angels paints and masks… I can’t tell you how much I love Tattered Angels products, the effects you can achieve are so gorgeous! Thanks so much for visiting my space, I have loved sharing it with you.

I have the exact same basket you have your punches in! Does the handle on yours slide out too?

Love your space, I have just started an addition to my home which includes a special space to scrapbook and create. I have a sewing room that has been overtaken with scrapbook supplies and it feels wonderful to have a space just for being creative. Love your layouts and thanks for sharing and being inspirational.
