We’re extremely excited to keep our nautical themed projects rolling with a shadowbox tray from one of our amazing Creative Crew members, Peggy Baker.
Show off photos, shells and favorite memories in this Nautical Shadow Box.
I started with the package the shadow box came in, I ripped off the top layer and smeared on gesso paint over it…to help show the ridges.
I glued down the package backing to the bottom of the shadow box. I used pop dot tape to help give the window some depth. I picked out the pictures to use, gathered the beautiful new papers of a Nautical theme. I used color Coral and Navy with splashes of neutrals and whites.
I ripped the papers around the photos to give a raw edge feel….love the raw look.
I loved the sampler and images on the printed papers, great for fussy cutting as seen on the windows…lobster, clam and the shells and other sea images. You see around the shadow box layout.
I love the blue burlap and canvas mini banners I create and stamped “York Beach” on the canvas….stitched together and glued to the cord jute…attached with knots and hooked on the top of the shadow box with square hooks.
Love the bundles of towels I created with canvas strips and coral damask printed paper…rolled, glued together and tied with cord jute….
One of the coolest part was to gather up embellishments to go along with the amazing new papers and products in the Nautical theme. I gathered sea shells, rocks, reindeer moss, starfish, sand dollars and fish net.
What’s really cool and fun was changing these embellishments with color (glimmer mist, glimmer glaze). Tattered Angels Mists and Glimmer Glaze is a perfect way to tint shells, star fish and sand dollars to coordinate with your nautical color palette.
I had a blast creating this project, so inspired by this fabulous color combo I am going to make more stuff….yes, a mini album next.
Thanks to Canvas Corp Brands for having me design for them.
Enjoy, Peggy Lee

Great shadowbox. Love all the extra “salty” embellishments.
