Planning our lives- our busy times as well as scheduling in time for relaxation, has become so mainstream. There are so many ways to decorate our planners – making planning fun! What better than to use the amazing products in the Canvas Corp Brands – Canvas Corp, 7gypsies and Tattered Angels -to help us create a beautiful and functional planner?!! Karla Yungwirth, one of our Crew Members from Calgary Alberta, is showing us how she uses these products to decorate her Happy Planner and create some DIY accessories.
Hello, it’s Karla here today to share with you the fun I’ve had decorating my planner this week! I love writing in my planner and I use it not only to keep track of things I need to do, but I also like to write down plans I have with my family and friends, as well as crafty plans. I find if I write down something I want to get done, whether it’s a scrapbook page or a sewing project or even organizing my kitchen (though I prefer the crafty projects 😉 ) I am much more likely to get it completed. Currently, I am using a Happy Planner in the regular size, which gives me room to add my planning as well as decorate.
There are so many amazing products and goodies tucked in the Canvas Corp Brands Shop! Once you start looking you’ll find so many ways to use so many different products. I grabbed the 7gypsies 12×12 To & Due and Go & Be papers in the Ordre Du Jour collection, 7gypsies Architextures products: Inspire Parchment Rub-Ons, 8×8 Paper Pad, Enjoy Stash Paque and the Trinkets Ink Pens, the Tattered Angels Beach Ball Calendar Mist Kit and the Canvas Corp Mini Gold Clothespins. I knew there were lots of elements I could cut and use from these products, and I love the colours in the Mist Kit, which I could also blend together to make other colours if I chose. If you’re looking for a few Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists to start with, this is a wonderful pack!
Then, I picked out some of the beautiful Canvas Corp 12×12 papers. The images on the papers are amazing! I wanted to colour some of them with the mists and fussy cut them out to add just as you would a sticker, so I grabbed the Scissors on Ivory, Cameras on Ivory, Pen & Ink on Ivory, Journal Lines on Ivory and Brushes on Ivory as well as the Canvas Corp 5×7 Ivory & Black Cardstock Paper Pad. I didn’t end up using all of them, but I like pulling out products that I’d like to use and then choosing from them. These papers are a lovely weight, and are so beautiful either coloured or left as black and white.I first wanted to decorate my inside cover page. I cut the Create sign and one of the rectangles out of the printer’s tray from the 7gypsies Architextures 8×8 Paper Pad and used the Sapphire Glimmer Mist and Party Pink Glimmer Mist from the kit to hand letter my name by dipping my paintbrush directly into the mist bottle. You can play around with different paint brush sizes to get different brush lettering effects. I also fussy cut several images from the Brushes on Ivory paper, and I glued my name plate directly onto the planner page.
My 5 year old daughter wanted to help me colour in the images I cut out, so I sprayed some mists from the Tattered Angels Beach Ball Calendar Mist Kit onto a craft mat and she painted away. The glimmer leaves such a beautiful shine on the paper, and these colours all look lovely together, even if they blend. We picked out some images from the Inspire Parchment Rub-Ons and cut them off of the sheet to use on the planner page.
I used a popsicle stick to rub the Inspire Parchment Rub-Ons on the page. I love how they look like a vintage stamp layered on the paper! Then, I glued on the paper brushes after they had dried, added fussy cut images and a sticker from the Enjoy Stash Paque and used a pen sticker from the Trinkets Ink Pens. These Architextures stickers are beautiful and have such wonderful dimension and texture!
I cut out sentiments and images from the 7gypsies 12×12 To & Due paper and used some torn paper edged scissors along the edges of the sentiments before gluing them to my page.
Here’s a look at the elements layered together. I love the way all these different papers and stickers work together. The mists coloured the ivory paper beautifully, and there are so many lovely images in the papers and Stash Paque to use!Next, I wanted to create a tabbed divider for my planner, so I took the packaging from the 7gypsies Architextures Trinkets Ink Pens and used that for my base. I love that you can use all the packaging in the Architextures collection! I thought the background script looked so cool – and perfect as an addition to my planner. Because the cardstock is slightly glossy it is really lovely to use the Glimmer Mists on and gives a neat effect. I added a few spritzes of colour from the Tattered Angels Beach Ball Calendar Mist Kit and then gave a spritz of water to blend them. I used my heat gun to dry it and grabbed the paintbrush I had coloured with the mists previously.
I fussy cut some scissors out of the Scissors on Ivory paper and painted them in with the Patina Glimmer Mist. This mist is such a gorgeous blue colour – maybe my favourite right now! Then, I cut a few more images from the To & Due paper.
I kept the packaging that came on my planner as a template and marked the spots to punch the holes. I just used my Crop-A-Dile punch where I marked the half circles and then used my scissors to cut the lines so the tabbed divider would fit on the rings.
I attached one of the pretty Canvas Corp Mini Gold Clothespins to the top and placed the divider on the rings. It’s quick and easy to move whenever I want.
When I fill out a week in my planner I like to add things that I know I’m doing first and choose designs or images that coordinate with that. I pulled out the 7gypsies Go & Be paper and the Architextures 8×8 Paper Pad and Enjoy Stash Paque to start and used my PaperMate Ink Joy pens to start planning.
I wanted to add some pretty papers to the areas that didn’t have anything in them, so I cut script paper from the Canvas Corp 5×7 Ivory & Black Cardstock Paper Pad into 1.5″ x 2.5″ rectangles and also cut some polka dot paper to create a paper clip bow below. I used mists from the Tattered Angels Beach Ball Calendar Mist Kit to spray directly onto the cardstock. The glimmer gives such a pretty effect, and the papers are a nice weight so they take the mists really well.
I cut out some feathers from the Enjoy Stash Paque and sandwiched a paperclip between it and some black cardstock to make one more planner clip. There are so many amazing elements in the Stash Paques, and you shouldn’t be afraid to cut the pretty pictures out! I love how so many different elements combined so well on these pages.
Here’s a look at the full week’s spread. Not only does it give me a fun way to plan, it also gives me a record to remember what we did that week. I can even go back and add some journaling in the open areas afterwards.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this look through the first few pages of my new planner, and I hope this gives you some ideas on how to decorate the planner you’re using. Just remember to have fun and enjoy the process!
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a fantastic week!
