We love to challenge our Creative Crew and last week we kicked off a series of challenges called Quick & Quirky – a quick challenge where we share one commonly found object from our homes or studio and the Crew has one week to make something, anything and upload to instagram, facebook using the #ccbquickquirkyproject. The challenge item must be incorporated in the project somehow and the Crew Member must use at least one product from Canvas Corp Brands. They can add anything else they wish. The goal is to have fun, without stress. Simply to pimp their stash! We are thinking about expanding this challenge to everyone, comment if you would like us to do that.
We award one winner for the quirkiest project – $25 gift card to spend in the CCB Online Shop! Our challenge item this week was JUNK MAIL.
The winner of the Gift Card this week is Kimberly who made this really cool pendants using the 7gypsies Crystals.
We get so much adorable stickers paper pads calendars in the mail from making donations. I went into my stock pile of so called junk mail and pulled out this adorable paper pad , then placed my 7gypsies Crystal – Princasca Hardware over the top of the adorable picture then traced it then I fussy cut it out then I took some Beacon’s 3-in -1 craft glue and smeared it onto the flat side of the charm now. I placed my cutout and rubbed it into the flat side of charm, after it was dry I painted the back side with Glimmer Glaze Satchel. After dry I took a sticker from junk mail saying thinking of you … This will make a great gift!”
You can paint onto the crystals with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze to make them opaque and show off the art or keep them clear and let the art shine through.
We also want to share some more samples of what our tremendous Crew created with their Junk Mail.
Kim Rippere made this “This is a 4×4 junk mail magnet, with handmade paper I created for this project from junk mail. Canvas Corp Brands Product: High Impact – Purple, Baseboard Mist- Iris, Sentiment”
Canvas by Viktoriya Porechnaya:
Mist on top of printed images with Tattered Angels Mists for a great color block look, creating a great base for your projects.
Below a Rococo Lady by Lena Holmström using Junk mail; newspaper, Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist, Burlap Flowers and lace from 7gypies.
“I made a truffle box. Now to make the homemade truffles for the inside. It will hold a dozen perfectly if I don’t eat them first…” says Shel Foarat about her project. You can watch her process video here.
Marie Nicole Heiderscheit made a really beautiful tag “Would you ever guess that this shaker tag was made from junk mail? I might just be a little excited now to get junk in the mail!”
Now we really hope that YOU can find inspiration in the pieces above and create something with your junk mail.
Look out for the #ccbquickquirkyproject on Facebook & Instagram – we are up for a new inspiring challenge this week.
Don’t forget to leave us a message if you would like to participate in upcoming Quick & Quirky Challenges and we will see about opening up to everyone!!!
Happy Creating!!!
