Hello everyone! Leanne McAlpine here with you today with a set of gypsy tags.
For this quick and easy project I decided to use Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and a combination of the beautiful papers from 7gypsies Gypsy Moments set and Compose Your Life collection. The papers in both these sets are so versatile.
I love creating tags as you have a limited space to work with and I think this often makes you more creative.
Leanne used the following:
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Gold, Electric Blue, Pink Coral, Kiwi, Tattered Leather
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam – Rustic
Canvas Corp Kraft Cardstock
Canvas Corp – Compose Your Life 8×8 paper pack
7gypsies – Gypsy Moments 8×8 paper pad
DecoArt modelling paste
selection of stencils
lace motifs, twine, paper flowers, beads
heat gun, scissors, hot glue
To begin, I die cut 3 tags from kraft card and applied texture paste through stencils to each tag.
You can let this dry naturally or if you’re impatient like me you can speed up the drying by using a heat gun.
I then sprayed each tag with with a different combination of Glimmer Mists.
The colours are slightly more muted as I did not prep the tags with gesso prior to spraying.
I decorated each tag differently.
For the tag with the brick work effect, I sprayed a lace motif with glimmer mist . The motif was then cut in half and attached as shown with hot glue. I then wrapped some jute around the lower part of the tag. I cut an image from the Gypsy papers and attached with foam pads and added a sentiment to the top right corner. The tag was then finished with a trio of paper flowers and some stamens.
For the tag with the stencilled lettering, I die cut a flower from Gypsy Moments paper and applied onto some jute.
I then cut some wording from one of the sheets and fixed as shown.
For the last tag, I tore a piece of the beautiful pearl embossed paper form the Compose Your Life pack and sprayed with 2 colours of Glimmer Mist. These papers take the spray beautifully. I then fixed this to the tag as shown
Next I sprayed a lace motif with Gold Glimmer Mist and fussy cut one of the flowers from the Compose Your Life papers. These were then glued to the tag along with sentiment from one of the papers.
I also added a paper flower, beads and a die cut spring.
These easy gypsy tags combine a variety of mixed media techniques and layers of colorful elements – have fun with yours!
See you next time!!!
