“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince….Such a great quote from The Little Prince. Time is has no bounds, no distance, no limits. With every second past, another second begins and ends again.
As we sit back and reminisce about our past we find a connection with specific time periods such as The Victorian Era and Age of Exploration. Out of these eras we were given the art of the spoken word with eloquent love letters worth saving, artful penmanship, dinning etiquette, elaborate fashion, soirees and most importantly, the Industrial Movement.
Our technology today was born out of these eras, so its only fitting that we start remembering our past. CCB Crew Member Marie Johansson created this gorgeous and romantic steampunk style card which she has labeled; “Past Due.” Its layered with an edgy ink technique using Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam, Glimmer Mist and crackle medium.
Have you ever tried using Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam to transform your plain and pretty boring chipboard? Well, I´ll tell you it works wonders. For this card I have used it together with Glimmer Mist and a crackle medium to create something that looks like rust. Let me guide you through the process.
First of all I glued my chipboard pieces in place, then I covered them with Glimmer Glam in the color “Pitch Black”.
When dry I mixed the crackle medium with Glimmer Mist in the color “Tattered Leather”, then applied it with a spatula, which helps smooth the mixture.
When dry you get this cool rust like look. Don’t you love how it looks like worn and aged metal? Like it were sitting for decades outside a barn or factory?
Then I added the embellishments 7Gypsies hardware, amber bottles, paper flowers and additional found items. The result a romantic yet rustic card.
