Canvas Corp Brands offers a fun collection of sewing and scissor themed papers, tags and embellishments that are the perfect place to start when making a handmade card for your favorite sewer. The papers are part of the new Heirloom Collection that is filled with pretty vintage art in creative areas we love.
Love these vintage scissors lines up at attention. You can use the paper as is for a card base, fussy cut the scissors to crate you own tags or embellishments or dresses and color the paper to create a great altered background – Canvas Corp Paper – Scissors on Ivory.
Love all the vintage sewing art on this paper, including the dress form, thimbles, tape measure, sewing machine, more cool scissors, buttons, pin cushions and more. This paper can be great as a background paper, but each piece of art is longing to be colored or distressed and fussy cut to become a focal point for a great card – Canvas Corp Paper – Sewing on Ivory.
This collection of 10 tags from Canvas Corp features a cool pair of vintage scissors and the simple word Handmade. The tags are blank on the back so you can jot a special message for a wrapped handmade gift or include this tag in your card. Tags – Handmade
The photos shows these great metal scissors a bit oversized, but the detail is just amazing. about 3″ tall, they are a great touch to any sewing project on paper or fabric. 7gypsies Scissors
7gypsies also offers a tiny pair of scissors along with these great vintage hearts that can be added too, the scissors are about 1″ and the hearts a bit smaller, so they can be grouped together nicely. Tags – Made
Cherry created two cards that will get your creative juices flowing. Here is what she used:
Buttons
vintage, sewing tape
vintage sewing notions
Tools Used: Hot glue, Beacon adhesive
Using a simple cardstock base folded in half and stitched up the sides to create a pocket to tuck a handmade card and treat in. Using a mix of old and new to create a unique and personal gift for someone special! Sticking with the ivory and black color theme looks great and ties it all together, letting the buttons and vintage accents stand out.
You can use 4×6 file folders to make a great card or make your own with the cardstock papers. They are great for holding a favorite treat or a little private message.
Don’t be afraid to use actual sewing notions on your projects. Keep an eye out at your local flea market or garage sale for a bucket of buttons and notions or maybe an old sewing box filled with goodies.
You can cut spools of thread in half and rewind them with the tread and make two objects to add that will glue easily onto your cards or project or fussy cut a printed paper one and make it cute and really simple.
If the black and ivory looks like it needs a little color, grab some glimmer mist, shake it up and apply with a brush in a watercolor style painting and you will simply love the results, we like to call it Adult Coloring with a Brush.
