She Rules - Collage with 7gypsies

Hey there, I am Iris Rodriguez and I have to admit that I have this fascination with vintage rulers. There is so much symbolism in rulers. So when I saw the 7gypsies Tape Measure papers, containing images of vintage wooden and fabric rulers; I was transported back in time, circa 1800s. I imagined a sewing circle of women, talking about their future aspirations for a better life for them and society. This collage is pays homage to the dreamers and doers.

Materials used in the Collage:
7gypsies Gypsy Seamstress: 12×12 Tape Measure
7gypsies Architextures Tall Base – Rosettes
7gypsies Collage Tissue
Tattered Angels High Impact Paint: Black, Light Gold, Aqua, White
Golden Molding Paste
Liquitex Matte Medium
Palette Knife, Makeup sponge, Sponge Brayer
Graphite Paper, Stencils; shapes and alphabet

Select female figure poses. The paper is 12×12 inches, the images I selected I resize to 8 inches in height, so that it fits adequately. Select a pose that says ‘power’.
Using the graphite paper, trace the image onto the front side of 7gypsies Tape Measure paper.

Cut out images with a precision knife. Then brush on Matte Medium.
This helps to protect the images from getting paint.
If you get paint on the image, it wipes off easily without staining the paper.

Use a second Tape Measure sheet and use the backside.
This has more of a basic grid pattern, which is perfect for the background.
Brayer or brush on layer of Aqua and Black High Impact paint, leaving some areas untouched.
Brayer a second layer of Light Gold High Impact paint onto the untouched areas.
