Sue’s Canvas

Hi there! Ready to be inspired by more canvas projects?

My first project is a mini canvas album featuring some of my favourite quotes.

I created this mini album with canvas pages and acrylic covers. The cover is designed such that the acrylic page and the inner canvas page come together to create a dimensional look.

I stamped the acrylic cover with Screen Print Clear Stamps from the Rockin’ Rennaissance collection in white. I then used Glimmer Glaze in Paradise Pink on the edges, stippling the glaze on, giving it a touch of see-through colour. The twill on the rings and lace on the edges were all hand-dyed in Glimmer Mist to match the album pages perfectly.

On the inside canvas pages I’ve misted the pages over Glimmer Screens then stamped the Screen Print Clear Stamps with grey fabric ink. The quotes are stamped in black and heat embossed for texture.

My next project is an altered 8×8 canvas.

I had fun using the new Limited Edition Spring 2011 colours on the canvas, colours which complement my photo beautifully. I used Glimmer Mists in Puerto Rico, Bahama Blue, Trunk Bay and Sun Sisters. I also layered Glimmer Glam in Chandelier, Golden Goddess and Blue Suede Shoes in between the layers of mists and you can see how the colours build up, with the glam resisting the mists.

The wrinkled seam binding you see on the floral vine was also hand-dyed using glimmer mists. Don’t you love how glimmer mists colour fabrics too?

My last project is a grungy canvas tag.

I went for an unusual marigold and forest colour combination of Glimmer Mists in Sun Sisters, Tiger Lily and Forest Green, layered with Glimmer Glam in Chandelier and Peach Bellini in between. I really like how you can build up the layers of mists and glam to create textures and free-flowing colours. To complete the canvas tag, I stamped a couple of my favourite images on to the tag in black, then heat embossed them for added texture. The wrinkled seam binding was also hand-dyed with matching glimmer mists of green.

I hope you’re inspired by my projects to start misting on canvas. Take it from me, it’s really fun to experiment. And don’t be afraid to go try strange colour combinations. 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Sue
