Hey, Katie Lamb here. I have recently started making artist trading coins and I wanted to make something that used warm sunny colours to match the current summer season.
I wanted to build up stamped layers on the background making it a little bit grungy but then soften the project down by using the butterfly imagery – fluttering and free.
Materials used for the Artist Trading Coins:
Tattered Angels Baseboard Mist – Baby Girl Pink
Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mist – Valencia, Firefly
Canvas Corp Spring Showers Butterflies on Ivory Paper
7gypsies Gypsy Moments 8×8 Paper Pad – phrases from the Express Yourself sheet
Cut out a set of three 2. 5 inch circles and paint them with gesso.
Spray over with Firefly Chalkboard mist spray.
Spray over the top of the first layer with Valencia.
Lastly, spray on Baby Girl Pink.
I used Glimmer Glaze to colour in the butterflies and wings.
I stamped over the backgrounds with mini texture stamps and used a mix of red and orange permanent ink so that each layer would show through.
I inked the edges using a makeup sponge to create a soft border.
I placed each piece on to the coin and once I was happy with the arrangement, I glued them down and added a mini peg for the body.
I cut up the tiny words from the Gypsy Moments 8×8 pad and glued them on to the coins.
I then added gems to finish off the coins.
Will you have a go at making your Artist Trading Coins?
