We just can’t get enough of mixed media projects these days from our CCB Crew, like the one our Crew Member Mandy Leever-Koel created called; “Sunny Days!” This piece gets our hearts pumping. We just want to pull out some Canvas Corp Stretched Canvas, Papers, Tattered Angels inks, paints and start creating. There is just so much cheery color throughout the piece. It makes you think of those long summer days spent gazing into the surrounding scenery, complete with coffee and journal. Jotting down thoughts and doodling ideas. This project is the perfect piece to welcome Spring or the coming summer season.
Mandy describes this project as: “To me this picture tells the story of warm, sun filled days, in a lush green garden. It brings back so many happy memories. I hope the abundance of flowers will make everyone feel the same.”
Materials Used:
- 7Gypsies: Take our breath away paper
- CCB Stretched Canvas 12 by 12
- Glimmer Glam: Golden Goddess and Chandelier
- Glimmermists: Olive Vine and Verdigris
- Gesso
- Modeling Paste
- Metallic Paints Green and Terracotta
- Crackle Paste
- Viva’s “Rusty paper”
- Gel Medium
- Nail caviar/micro beads
- Embellishments such as chipboard, flowers, leaves, sink, text plate, frame
Tools Used:
- paintbrushes
- foam brush
- glue/hot glue gun
- scissors
- knife
- spatula/plastic card
Step 1
Cut the paper to fit around the edges. Apply gesso on transitions and crackle paste on sides and here and there. Apply glimmermist once dry, using a brush.
Step 2
Apply blend of modeling paste and glimmer mist through stencils. Do not remove immediately, first spray different color of glimmer mist. Great color blending method!
Step 3
Paint leaves and text with mixture of crackle paste and glimmer mist. Once dry apply more glimmer mist with a brush, to enhance crackles and color.
Step 4
apply ‘Rusty Paper’ on vines to mimic wood color and texture. Apply emerald green metallic paint to poles.
Step 5
Paint bricks with orange metallic paint and Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam. Also paint stripes from text with same glimmer glam.
Step 6

Step 7
Close-up, sink was done with crackle paste blended with glimmermist. The here and there some other paint touches, afterwards dabbed white gesso onto it. Added nail caviar/micro beads serving as ‘water’.
Step 8 & Step 9

Step 10
Close-up. Covered all flowers with white gesso. Then covered everything with Chandelier Glimmer Glam. LOVE it! So yummy!
