Just because Christmas is over does not mean the time to create ornaments is over. Make a door hanger instead! Door hangers are versatile and can be used anywhere in a house. They are perfect with a little stamped “Do not disturbed” image for craft rooms or bedrooms. The Mini Origins Wings are the perfect backdrop for a sweet little Tattered Angel Door Hanger. The wings are printed on a high quality super absorbent paper that works beautiful with paints and mists. For this project I used Glimmer Mist on them, but you could use paint too!
In addition to the wings, you will need your favorite Glimmer Mist, Color Wash and High Impact paint. I choose a blue color scheme for my sweet little angel. I also pulled from my stash a paper clay piece I had created from a mold, Lisa Kettell clay piece, lace and sequins.
First, color your lace piece by dipping it in the Color Wash. Lay it flat to dry as you work on the rest of the angel. It is important to do this first as to allow time to dry.
Paint the body of the angel with High Impact Paint.
Mist two of your favorite wing sets with different colors. The two wing sets will sandwich the ribbon and lace to give it a clean finish and stability.
Distress the wings by cutting them out and inking the edges.
Using your favorite adhesive assemble your angel. I first adhered the sequins and lace to the larger set of wings and placed the smaller pair on top.
Think outside of the box when creating your angel. You don’t have to use a traditional body or head. Think about a paintbrush, old pencils, or a clothes pin for the torso and neck of your angel. The head can be created with a marble, ping pong ball or anything that is a small ball. The more out of the box the items you use to create the angel the more unique the hanger!
