The hidden messages…or Art Journal Pages

With the thrive of Mixed Media Art  a lot of people are also doing Art Journals. I have been doing Art Journals for a long time…but usually do not show them since they are part of my very personal journaling. I also use Art Journals to try new media and techniques- sometimes the first time I use something I do use it on a artjournal page. I love using the Tattered Angels Products on the Art Journal Pages too.

Here is a cover I once did for a Art Journal Workshop I taught:

I used the Heidi Swapp Fastenation Folder, sprayed the cover with Limited Fall 2010 Edition Glimmer Mist Colors and polished it with Pewter Glimmer Glaze.

Here is one of the inside pages:

I used also the Limited Fall Edition 2010 Glimmer Mist Colors, as well as the yummie Chandelier Glimmer Glam – ahhhh – my favorite of the Glams :). I also used the Dragonfly from the Field Notes Clear Stamp Set.

I recently started a new art journal – which is a very grungy style with lot’s of hidden messages…

I painted the background with black Gesso and then sprayed just little touches of Chalkboard Glimmer Mist on the background. I also sprayed Marshmellow Chalkboard Glimmer Mist on the Clear Stamp. Some Stiletto Glimmer Glam and Paprika Glimmer Glam are great for finishing and covering touches 😉

Can’t wait to see what the design team is showing as their art journal pages throughout this month of May!

The theme for the main website this month is wedding. and therefore I would like to show you a wedding layout which is a bit different 🙂 I have done a couple wedding layouts the last couple months – romantic and quite traditional but I also wanted to do something non-traditional.

Der Käse ist alt und vergammelt – aka – The Cheese is old and moldy

HUH? You might think I’m crazy 🙂 Well I am- but actually this has a little background story. We had a cheese platter as an entry at our outside wedding in the United States and our friend Bill came up to me with a piece holding it right into my face and said the only German sentence he knows “Der Käse ist alt und vergammelt” – which means…The Cheese is Old and Moldy. As you can see in the picture I laughed a lot about this 🙂 Why he is able to say this sentence belongs to a different layout 😉

I used first Hayride Glimmer Glam on the Basic Grey Ledger paper and then sprayed over with Rum Punch Glimmer Mist. For the Hambly Screen Prints Transparency I used Firefly Chalkboard Glimmer Mist. I attached the transparency and then stamped the edges. The flowers are sprayed with the same colors.

I used the Tim Holtz Tissue Paper Traveler and create a banner with it – painted parts of the banner pieces with Mellow Yellow Glimmer Glaze and then sprayed with Glimmer Mist Patina.

I hope you enjoyed my un-traditional post today 🙂

Wishing you a gorgoeus day!

Nat
