Traveling Art Journal – April 2017 vol.1

May is here, which means it’s time to share with you the first part of the April travels of our Art Journals. Our Crew is spread all over the world and the journals are slowly making their way visiting the fabulous places filling up with beautiful, one-off pieces of art.

As usual, the entries are full of Tattered Angels colours, gypsy musings and Canvas Corp embellishments. Each of them is completely different but all are full of passion and soul.

‘For this month’s, page I used some recycled papers from my off cuts box to create a background and added in some spots of colour with my Tattered Angels mists. The mix and match Spring Showers pad was perfect for capturing my mood. I added colour to the crocuses with more mists using it like paint.’

‘I have been away from home for 3 weeks so I could be with my daughter as our first grandchild was born. I looked out the window today and was surprised to see leaves budding on the trees and daffodils in bloom! Spring arrived while I was gone! That was my inspiration!’

‘This spread is all about being daring and taking chances. I was thinking about how life can sometimes seem fragile and delicate like the lace from the 7 Gypsies Junque Pack. I juxtaposed that with the bold black papers from the same pack and used High Impact Paint and Glimmer Glam to create an umbre effect with the Brown of the earth to give it weight and the ethereal feel of the blue green Caspian Sea Glimmer Glam that rises into an ivory sky. I added texture with Brown again on top to give it a messy feel, because life can be quite messy at times. The pocket hides a tag with a heart, because we all gather our courage to dream from within.’

‘I was excited to receive the art journal this month with a little pocket in between the pages. This meant I could make an altered tag to coordinate with the page and secret it away in the pocket. Fun! I used a neutral pallette with a few pops of bright colors for my page. I used found objects to make marks to mimic the Mixed Media Origins paper I was using pieces of. It was a fun page and I can’t wait to recieve next month’s journal!’
