April is here, which means it’s time to share with you the first part of the March travels of our Art Journals. Our Crew is spread all over the world and the journals are slowly making their way visiting the fabulous places filling up with beautiful, one-off pieces of art.
As usual, the entries are full of Tattered Angels colours, gypsy musings and Canvas Corp embellishments. Each of them is completely different but all are full of passion and soul.
See for yourself…
Let’s focus on each of the Crew members now…
Some of the will share with you their inspiration, some will show you their process…there’s a little bit of everything here…
ENJOY!

‘My inspiration for this page were the cool illustrated bees from the Canvas corp 12X12 paper Birds and Bees paper. I think a lot about what we are doing to nature as we carelessly disregard our impact with pesticides and pollution. Some bees are on the endangered species list so I wanted to say… be strong and hold on bees… we need you!’

‘After the dullness of winter, I wanted to capture the feeling of Spring on my page and felt the colours of the paints perfectly summed up that mood. The underlying texture paste is dark, which is how my garden looks right now, overwintered plants a bit dark and grungy with colour waiting to burst out from all around any minute.’
Materials used:
Tattered Angels Simply Sheer – Rosey, Fresh Orange, Bright Blue and Tangy Lime
Tattered Angels High Impact Paint – White
VICKY FORTIER
I was looking for an image as a starting point and when I found this dancer the focal point was found. The rest just came together because I wanted to try using tattered angel sprays as paints.

7gypsies 8×8 Paper Pad – Wanderlust
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist- Pomegranate
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist- Sapphire

‘I had alot of fun with this one – i love butterflies and wanted that to be the focal point. I have kept a fair bit of “white” space -(although it is packed with paper, tissue and ink it is blank) representing the start of the journey and a story still to be written.’
Canvas Corp Paper – Spring Showers: Butterflies on Ivory
7gypsies tissue
7gypsies Global Paper Tape
Tattered Angels High Impact Paint – Antique Gold, Yellow, Copper, Black
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam – Just Peachy
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze – Icicle

‘I wanted to force myself out of my recent colour stagnation – I am creating mostly in greens these days. Using shades of red was something I always found challenging but this time, the process was surprisingly smooth; maybe because I had an idea in mind from the start.’
Materials used:
Tattered Angels Baseboard mists: Red Rocks + Gerber
Tattered Angels Chalkboard mists: French Vanilla + Strawberry Ice
scissors cut-out from Canvas Corp paper Heirloom: Sewing on Ivory
scraps of MMO papers for texture underneath the paint
NANCY HAWES
‘I always associate Easter with Spring. I’ve been so excited to color these images from Canvas Corp Spring Garden paper using my favorite water color pencils. I then stenciled the background using Tattered Angels Bright Glimmer Mist Dragonfly and Moss. I picked this quote because I can’t wait to get my stash of Cadbury Chocolate Eggs.’

‘I wanted coffee circles and find out that one of the frames from 7 Gypsies rubberstamps was perfect. I think my typical style is to add cheese cloth, white medium and coffee splash to my creations. I’ve never made an Art Journaling this way before. I always like to fill the entire page, but now I tried to stop myself. This is my creation for March, in our chain of travelling art journals around the team members for 12 months. Two made, 10 more to have fun with.’

‘I´m looking forward to Spring so much! The days are getting longer now and the spring flowers are coming out of their hibernation and the birds are returning from the south. So I decided to make a Spring related page!’

‘I took my inspiration from the 7 Gypsies patterned paper with the street signs on it. It reminded me of all the places on my bucket list that I want to travel to. The wings of the moth symbolized the freedom to fly and discover new places. The compass represented my desire to find a way to make my future travels a reality.’

Many of the journals featured spring – with flowers, bunnies,
and butterflies. All of the pages are fantastic.
I’m trying to get started using the canvas pieces and
need all the inspiration I can get. Thanks for
sharing.
