When you hear those awful words from a sister, mother, daughter or friend? “I have breast cancer” What do you say? What can you do? Your heart is broken for them and you wish so desperately you could take the fear away, just do something or simply scream at the top of your lungs and make it go away, if only it were that easy.
Every 19 seconds a case of breast cancer is diagnosed in a woman in the world. That number is just staggering. While there are many, many survivors that are given a good bill of health daily not all are so lucky. This disease is still taking too many lives. Taking mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins, co-workers away from us.
Marie shares with us on the blog today a beautiful tribute to her cousin who lost her battle at such a young age and leaving her little girls behind. This beautiful tray is a reminder of her cousin’s faith that her girls would grow up to be strong, independent women.
As you know October is the Breast Cancer Awareness month. For me this is a personal matter as my cousin died from Breast Cancer at the young age of 37-year-old. I always think of her as one of my Best Friends and I will never forget what she told me one of the last times I visited her. She told me that she had faith in her little girls growing up to be strong, independent women. She told me that even though she would not be there for them, she was certain of that she had given them the roots and a solid ground to stand on. That she had given them the self confidence that they needed to take the step and lift against the things they dream of. This tray is a tribute to her – Marie.
