Tree of life – reverse canvas fun

What’s Canvas Corp famous for? Canvas! Canvas!!! CANVAS!!!

The sizes range from 2×2 to 20×24 and if you ask… custom sizes are available.  We also offer a full range of stretched burlap and some sizes in stretched denim, stretched colored burlap and black stretched canvas.

Today, Mona Leonard shares a project she made using reverse of her canvas… interesting, isn’t it? With a box full of colourful buttons and head full of ideas, here is what happened!

I wanted yo create a tree and this is what I came up with. My tree was inspired by many posts that I had seen online but wanted mine different… so decided it should be done on the back of my canvas so I could add a frame to it. – says Mona.

Materials used by Mona:
Canvas Corp Kraft & Black Live, Laugh and Love paper
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Electric Blue
Blank canvas
White , black and brown charcoal pencil
Paints, Scissors
Buttons, Glue, Glue gun

I started my project by spraying my reverse canvas with Tattered Angels Electric Blue.

While the ink was drying I cut up strips of my CC kraft and black Live, Laugh, Love cardstock to cover the top and sides ofthe frame.

Now that my canvas is dry , I took a white charcoal pencil to draw out my tree.

Here is where I took brown paint, gelatos and my black and brown charcoal pencil to colour in the tree.
The black was mostly to trace around the tree.

I added a bit of shadowing again using the charcoal pencils. Used my light blue gelato also to go around the tree.
I then glued all my strips of paper to cover the top and inside of the frame.

Once I was happy with my tree, I took my distress ink in black and my distressing took to give a distress look to the frame by adding ink all around with the distressing tool.

Now for the fun part was adding the buttons to my tree, I glued random colours on the tree to make it nice and bright.

As you can see, reverse canvas can be full of charm too!
