Vibrant colored poppies - "Watercolors" Challenge

Our May Challenge is all about Watercolors & watercoloring. Today Katie Z. Ho show us how to use Tattered Angels products together with a stamped image.

Katie tell us: “A generous use of various Tattered Angel Glimmer mists and paints from the Calendar Mist and Naturally Age kits over a stamped poppy heart image. Also showing a tutorial in how to use these mists to watercolor and create depth. The colored poppy heart was used on a card using the various papers from 7gypsies Architextures™ 8″ x 8″ Paper Pad and Mixed Media Pack.”

Stamp the image over a smooth cartridge paper using Versafine black ink. Pour the various mists onto the palette. These will be used for mixing. Briefly mist the image using Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist. Heat set to dry prior to painting.

Mix Fire BB with Pearl Glimmer Mist to dilute the red color, and paint them over the poppies. Heat set to dry. Intensify the lines within the poppies using Fire Baseboard Mist. Heat set to dry. Paint the stamens with Camel Glimmer Glam and heat set to dry.

Paint the leaves with Key Lime Pie Glimmer Mist first and intensify with Verdigris Color Wash. Heat set to dry. Paint the small flowers with Curious Glimmer Mist. Heat set to dry.

In order to blend towards the background, mix Curious Glimmer Mist with some water and smudge around the poppy heart. Heat set to dry. Lastly, to give it some glimmer, lightly mist the finished piece with Pearl Glimmer Mist.
