Vintage Color Christmas Cards with Nadia Cannizzo

We are featuring our guest designer for the month Nadia Cannizzo.  Nadia is sharing with us how to use unconventional Christmas colors is a simply magnificent way.  The classic red and green are always on trend, but when it comes to thinking outside of the box, a wide range of color combinations for the holidays can and do look terrific.  Nadia combines a soft turquoise and tan together and we love the results.

Canvas Corp offers a wide selection of neutral holiday papers that are ivory and black and can be transformed to any color palette you have in mind.  Nadia is showing off the Farmhouse Christmas and wow it looks so amazing in this unique color combination.

The use of non-holiday embellishments such as leaves, flowers and strings look amazing when tied in together with the holiday feel of the card.  Adding the coordinating color brings it all together, so no worries if you don’t have a lot of holiday embellishments, you can see how well everyday accents will look.

Distressing paper is so easy with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, you can mist, drip, drop, smear, rub, drag or your favorite technique the paper and embellishments with the paint.  Each one creates a different look, but when using the same colors it gives even more texture and dimension.

We have enjoyed getting to know Nadia and her creative style and here a bit more about her.

CCB – What advice would you give to someone who gets in a creative slump?
Nadia – Step away and pack it all up. I did this and in fact I sold everything and then took a year and a half off and now I enjoy creating again.
CCB – Tell us one thing that people might not know about you.
Nadia – I am highly Obsessive Compulsive to the point where I cannot mix foods that don’t belong together on my plate or skip aisles in the supermarket.
I think a lot of us are like this and we sure don’t want to miss a thing.
CCB – How often do you create?
Nadia – Once or twice a week
CCB – Do you jot down your ideas before you do them or do you create as you go?
Nadia – I always create as I go. I never have a plan in mind
So if you are in a bit of a creative slump, consider packing things away, shutting the door and giving it a break and when you are ready dive back in and let the creativity take over again.  You might consider choosing new color palettes or finding a new style you enjoy and creating outside of your standard box.
Happy Holiday Creating!!
