With February being being a heart/love month, we are having plenty of red colour focussed projects on our blog.
Today is no different with our Crew member, Cathy Frailey sharing her Red Dress artboard.
February 2nd was Wear Red Day to show your support for the awareness of heart disease. February is also the month of love, romance, reds and pinks. I’ve created a little canvas encompassing all that February is to women!
Materials used:
7gypsies Architetxures ArtBoard 6×6
Canvas Corp Red & Ivory Toile Paper
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Wedding Pink, Pearl
7gypsies Gypsy Moments: 8×8 – Poses and Reflections sheet
7gypsies Lace Trimmings Assorted Pack
Small Metal Hanger, Small Flowers
Distress Ink, Matte Gel, E6000 Glue
Heat Gun, Scissors
How To…
Draw a template for your dress bodice and cut out of the Toile paper. Then cut a rectangular piece of the Toile for the skirt. You’ll want it wide enough to pleat; the length depends on how much you want it to overhang your canvas, if any. I just didn’t take exact measurements and just chanced it.
Start pleating your skirt, lining up with the bodice. You can spritz the skirt with water to make it easier.
Once it’s how you like it, go around your edges with distress ink and spritz with the Pearl mist – sparkly & pretty!
Spritz your canvas with Wedding Pink – using your heat gun will cause it to spread around and make patterns.
You can also dab with a paper towel.
Now you’re ready to glue everything down! I did mine at an angle which left a space for my sentiment.
I added distress ink around the edges of the canvas after adding my lace to the hem of the skirt.
The flowers at the waist add just the right touch!
You can use any kind of paper to make different dresses – so many options, right?!!
Happy crafting!
