Hello! Today is my turn to welcome you to my scrap room and give you a little tour.
OK, scrap room might not be the right word here, I like to call it my studio. 🙂 A couple of years ago we moved house and from the start we had the intention to build a room/studio for me on top of our garage/kitchen which we realised in October 2009. Since then I’ve been organising crops here, teaching workshops and creating a loooooot of projects. A lot of times when I walk into my little piece of heaven I think “Wow, this is really mine!”. I know that I am very fortunate to have such a cool work space and I love to show you around, so here we go:
This is an overview of the room from the back. You can see the counter which is made in an L-shape out of 3 IKEA drawers with a thick shelf on top. This is where I do my computer and paper work. These 3 drawers where the only fourniture I had when I had to fournish this room so everything is basicly build around them..
These are the tables as seen from the counter. I can pull them out and make them almost a half meter longer, which is perfect for workshops.
I was in love with this wall paper the moment I saw it in the store. My hubby looked at me and said “Well, I guess you know what you’re doing!” LOL! It was a horrible job getting it straight on the wall but it made me really happy when I finished it! 🙂
It is a great thing to start out with an empty room because you have the opportunity to think about good storage solutions before buying all kinds of stuff. I bought a bookcase that is deep enough to hold paper trays and IKEA drawers in which I can use those clever fabric drawer dividers. I love those! Makes it easy to keep things together and when you need something you just take the whole divider out on the table.
For my paints and inks I use bigger containers that also fitt in the drawers. When I want to use them I simply get the whole container out on the table.
For my screens and Tattered Angels stamps I use plastic A4 (letter) file folder cases. The original packages fitt in there perfectly and they don’t take much space.
For my favorite books and magazines I have a magazine rack which is on my table where my croppers can easily see and use them. Above the rack I always have some layouts displayed for inspiration.
A couple of aprons are waiting to be used for the “dirty” work. 🙂
In the back corner of my studio I even have a little kitchen where I prepare lunch on a workshop day. Also perfect of course for cleaning brushes and screens 🙂
This is the evening before a workshop. All set and ready for the next day.
And this is during the workshop. There is enough space for 8 people.
I want to end this post with sharing two projects I made with Tattered Angels products. The first one is the word “create” made out of 7 inch high wooden letters. I made this project for a Dutch magazine before I was a TA DT-member so you might not have seen it before 🙂
The second one is a layout that shows that you can create clean and simple layouts using glimmer mist 🙂
And finally a little stamp that says how I feel about my scrap room!
So now you might think that I’m all organised and tidy, LOL! NO, nothing like that! You should see my room on an average day when I’m creating. This whole big table covered with stuff!! But, that’s the good thing about teaching at home, I need to clean up regularly, because I can’t teach in that mess 🙂
Thank you for joining me on this tour. Hope you enjoyed it!
Happy glimmering!
