Where We Love – Wooden Boards Wall Hanging

My oldest girls just finished their freshman year in High School and this was the first year that seeing all of my friends that had seniors graduating really hit home. I can’t believe that in just a few years, I will have seniors that are graduating and moving on to college. And then I was looking through my sketchbook and saw this quote that I wrote down last year and it finally really resonated with me. And when I pulled out the 7gypsies paper stash – I just felt like this little house was meant to be created! I am Karen Crossen and I would like to share with you my wooden boards wall hanging.

Products used:
Wooden Pine Boards – Painted White
Tattered Angels Plain Jane Simply Sheer – Burlap
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Partridge in a Pear TreePomegranate
Tattered Angels Chalkboard – Clover
7Gypsies Architextures Paper Pad
7Gypsies Paper Maritime Collection – Sirene and Poisson
7gypsies Mixed Media Pad – Fluted Paper and Burlap (any mixed media pad as they will all have that)
Architextures Junque – Warehouse
Architextures Tall Base – Chicken Wire
Canvas Corp Kraft paper
Matte Gel, Paint Brush, Scissors, Hammer, Screwdriver and Screw

This project starts out on painted white set of pine boards glued together. (These boards are from my local big box store, cut down to size and glued together with wood glue.) When the paint is dry, use sandpaper and sand off the paint around the edges and where the boards meet. After you sand off the white, take your Plain Jane Simply Sheer in Burlap and paint it where you took off the white paint. Painting on the Burlap color, makes it look like the boards underneath are stained! Then beat up your boards! Take a screw and a hammer and hit the boards, hammer the screw in to make cool impressions and hit the screwdriver end into the wood to make small round holes. Go crazy and have fun!! After you have enough texture, paint the Plain Jane and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Partridge in a Pear tree into the holes. Wipe off any extra color around the edges so the color is inside the holes!

Cut out some scrap paper into the shapes of the house, the chimney, the fence, the door and the bushes. I like to do this so I can get the scale right and not have to cut and recut my best paper. Then when the shapes are the size you like, start cutting out your 7Gypsies papers, burlap and fluted paper. Paint matte gel onto the back of the burlap to make it stronger and less likely to fray! Spray Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist in Clover onto some craft paper to make the bushes. And spray some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Partridge in a Pear Tree onto the kraft paper as well to make the fence pieces. Then put them all together and glue them down with Matte Gel!

Tear out pieces of Architextures to add texture to your boards. Paint a little Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Pomegranate on Kraft Paper for your little hearts. Print out the words on Kraft paper on your printer and glue them down. When it is all beaten up, painted and glued down – you are done!

Hang it up and enjoy your project!

Love this!! You have showcased beautifully one of my favorite quotes. I really like the Chalkboard ‘clover’ paint — must get this.
