Laura Kuhlmann is today’s Wings on Wednesday designer. Her mixed media mini pallet is small, but its inspiration is huge: Dream, Learn, Create. Tattered Angels products helped turn a simple piece of unfinished wood into color-filled wall art.
Laura used products from 7gypsies, including our fabulous Architextures Angel Wings!
Dream of art you want to make. Learn all you can about what you want to do. Create art that is an extension of yourself.
~Laura Kuhlmann
This project began with these stunning angel wings, which are part of the 7gypsies Architextures Findings collection . . .
You can leave the wings as is, or paint them like I did for this piece.
Any don’t forget to save the cardstock that the wings are attached to. This pretty floral design can be used in another project!
The minute I spotted the angel wings in Michaels, I knew I wanted to feature them on a small wood square of some sort, and remembered this mini unfinished wood pallet I had in my stash . . .
Once home with my newly purchased wings, my next step was to begin thinking of the perfect words to add to this mixed media pallet art, as I could already see it taking shape in my head!

Remember: there’s never a wrong way to paint something!
Let dry.
put everything together
Use E6000 to help the Angel Wings — which do have adhesive backing on them — adhere to the painted pallet.
Put a tiny blob of E6000, then adhere the tulle netting scrap and flat-backed pearl embellishments as shown.
Cut out inspirational words from any of the 7gypsies papers — there’s so many too choose from! — and distress edges with brown ink.
Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere each of the words to the mixed media pallet.
Drill holes (if not there already) to hang, and thread tea-stained twine through. Tie at the top with vintage seam binding scraps and ribbon.
Dream. Learn. Create. A mixed media pallet to inspire!
I love all of the painted background details, including the flecks of glitter from the Glimmer Glam paints:
This little piece of wall art serves as a daily reminder in my craft room.
Dream of art you want to make. Learn all you can about what you want to do. Create art that is an extension of yourself.
Happy crafting!
