Yvonne Cunningham – Crew Interview

It’s time for another post in our 2017 Canvas Corp Crew Interviews. We are extremely privileged to be able to work with a group of over a 100 of amazing designers from around the world. They have all come together to create, share ideas, support each other, let us know what we can do better and remind us of what we are doing well.  Our Crew members contribute projects to our blog, design with our products on their blogs, create models for our trade shows, packaging and other fun little projects.  We love to hear what they have to say, to be inspired by their work and to learn new things everyday.
Today, we get to know Yvonne Cunningham.

Where do you reside? 

I live in Slinger, Wisconsin in the United States.

Describe your design style…

I do a little bit of everything from art journaling, paper crafts and mixed media. It all depends on the mood and the inspiration of the day, week or season. My love for mixed media runs in my creative juices the most.

Who or what do you give credit to inspiring your creativity?
Since I was a kid, Picasso was an inspiration to me. I could feel his extreme modernism. He broke the rules and created outside the box. I too, love to create and think outside the box. Or it’s just the way my brain understands and creates…

What inspires you most today?

So many talented people are in the world today. They are my inspiration. So many different styles and techniques to play and create from. We are all teachers, we learn from each other. We share what we learn and inspire all who want to create.

What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? and why? Just one please!!!!
I get the most joy out of using the Glimmer Mists. I love blending them to make different backgrounds. The end result is never the same. They are also a good base to start out with and gives the finishing touch for completion.
We asked Yvonne to share with us her favourite project she made using CCB products.

Why is it your favorite?
Not realizing it when I created these Artist Trading Cards, that they fit the Tattered Angles brand. Using the Glimmer Mists gave the ATCs that finishing touch to give you that peaceful loved feeling.
Do you teach and if so tell us a bit about what you teach, where you go and some of your favorite places?

Not at this time, but I am learning for the future.

I am the happiest doing…

I am the happiest when I can sit down and create at free will, be wild and get dirty. The love for mix media art lets me do this.

My favorite place to be creative…
Funny as it sounds, I love to create when I’m in my school bus. When I drive on long trips, I get hours to myself to create and be inspired by nature. I take my art bag filled with all my fun supplies and crank away on being creative.
Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space…
It’s under construction and almost completed. I sure will miss working at the kitchen table.

Tell us one thing fun about you we might not know…

I love to make people laugh, so you can say I’m the class clown.

Share with us anything about your creative life that you feel would inspire others…

Don’t be afraid to try something new. Experiment and have fun creating. I have found I have learned more by my mistakes. What you think looks bad, others think is beautiful.
