Creative Fun with Butterflies

Butterflies are a big part of our creative world, not only are they fun to make, but they represent new beginnings, spreading our wings and venturing in new directions.  If butterflies inspire you, here are a few creative ideas for making butterflies, creating with butterflies and just pretty butterflies.

Mixed Media Butterfly Card by Linda Sandblåst Skotheim

I wanted to make a special card for my moms 60th birthday, and ended up with a butterfly card. I did a periscope video how I misted and painted the papers from the first butterfly, but decided to make another with a video. Just see how amazing the mists and the paint are on the mistable Leather paper from Tattered Angels.

Mixed Media Origins Butteflies

Heather colored the Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins Paper – Wings with colors from her marker stash and the results are so pretty.  Cut out any of your adult coloring art and add it to books and journal covers and show off your work.

 Folded Butterflies by Shannon Green

Paper Buttefly Gypsy Moments

Here is a great video Shannon created on how to make folded butterflies.  This is a great project for adding to your craft projects, classroom project, troop projects and more.  You can use any papers to make your butterflies, Shannon suggests two sided paper as both side will show. You can use any weight paper, but the thicker the paper it is a bit tougher to fold it.

A great way to add butterflies to canvas items like totes and aprons is to create them on canvas.  You can hand sketch them, stamp them on with permanent ink or cut out one of the Canvas Corp Printed panels.  You can color them in with fabric markers, mist or paint and the results are stunning.  To see this post on our blog for more details – Butterfly Tote

Butterfly Colorful Canvases

Amber created this simple, sweet canvases by leaving the butterflies and art black and white and focusing on one color per canvas.  These are great home decor diy projects you can make for your home or for a gift.  To see what Amber used visit our blog post – Little Butterfly Canvases

Butterfly Crate & Mini File Folder Holder

This fun project shows how to make the butterflies soar.  A range of Tattered Angels Mistable Papers were misted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and then cut from Spellbinders dies in assorted sizes and shapes and embossed.  They look even more cool up close.

IMG_1551 The crate serves as a library for mini folder folders that are filled with wallet size photos of flowers, gardens and things that grow.  This is also the perfect size for ATC’s and a great way to store them.  For all the details and close ups, visit The Butterfly Crate Blog Post.

Butterfly Mixed Media Background by Anita Houston

Mixed Media Butterfly Background with Color BurstAnita was experimenting with Ken Oliver’s Color Burst paints to see how they looked on a Canvas Corp Printed Cardstock paper Butterflies on Ivory and the results are amazing.  The art shows through and the colors blend and accent each other.  This paper is ready to be a background for a mixed media project, card, tag or more.  You can also fussy cut out the butterfly art for mixed media butterflies to add to projects.
