Bee Happy – Stretched Mini Canvas

I am terribly afraid of birds and bees and yet, I love to add them to my craft projects, which is strange… I know. So I created a small 4×4 canvas to share with you all today using the large bee from the Birds and Bees on Ivory 12×12 cardstock. I love the bold images on this 12×12 sheet and they provide me with no end of inspiration, and they are so easy to alter and colour because of the bold way they have been drawn.

Materials used:
Canvas Corp Stretched Canvas 4×4
Canvas Corp 12×12 Card – Birds and Bees on Ivory
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Dazzling Diamonds, Gold, Coffee Shop
Tattered Angels High Impact Paint – Copper, Orange, Light Gold, White
Texture Paste, Gel Medium, Gesso
Black Pen, Stencil
Paint Brushes, Scissors, Palette Knife

Apply some texture paste through a bold stencil design. Once dry, apply a coat of Gesso and white this is still a little wet spray a layer of Gold Glimmer Mist over the top.

After the first layer is dry add some Coffee and more Gold Glimmer Mists. Tilt and move the canvas so the colours move, pool and blend for extra interest.

Once Dry add a very thin watery layer of Copper and Light Gold High Impact Paints; these with tone down and unify the other layers.

While the last layer is still wet add some Orange High Impact paint to small areas, add more water to blend this out if the canvas is to dry. Then add small amounts of White High Impact paint to the stenciling. I like to apply a small amount with a paint brush and then dab some away with my finger.

Paint the Bee and chosen text, I used Orange and White paint and Gold Glimmer Mist on the body of the bee. mixing the orange with white gave me a variance of colour over the body. I then painted areas of the wing white and added the Dazzling Diamonds over the top.

Cut the image and text out and glue them to the canvas with a Gel medium. When sticking the image down, push the card into the canvas so that it molds around the stenciling.
When everything in totally dry doodle around the canvas, Bee and text to finish.
