Canvas and Tattered Angels Baguette (Bread) Bag

So many people do not know that Canvas Corp Home Basics has a full line of blank canvas and burlap staple items that you can alter with paint, Glimmer Mists, and so much more.  They also can print designs on their blanks, reach out if you have an idea.  From totes and aprons to canvas mini albums and today, A BAGUETTE (bread) BAG!  I could not resist this bag when I first saw it.  I am a true vintage girl and it spoke to me, giving me a visualization of walking down cobblestone walkways in the outskirts of France.  Going to the local bakery and picking out just the right size baguette, piping warm and putting it into my canvas bag to keep it warm on my walk home.  Can you see it?  Can you smell it?

While I don’t get to take a walk down cobblestone roads in France, what I could do is give it a romantic look with paint, Glimmer Mists and stencils.

Let me show you how I transformed my little baguette bag.

First choose 2 different stencils, one that fills the area like script for the background.  Then I chose a honeycomb to cover it with to give it two textures.

Using any kind of acrylic paint, Canvas Corp DIY & Decor Paint, DecoArt, etc will do the trick.  Be sure when you stencil to always start with a light coat, you can always add paint.  This will keep your lines crisper.  When you have a very fine script stencil like this one it is hard to get those crisp lines, no worry, just do your best.

Now it is time to add the second stencil.  We want a larger, bolder pattern for the top texture like this honeycomb.

Paint the honeycomb stencil with red and orange paint.

Once you have painted your honeycomb pattern on the canvas tote.
Choose two different Glimmer Mists, a red and an orange.  You will need to choose the shades you would like the best since there are so many hues of reds and oranges to choose from.

This is where you get to get wild with Glimmer Mists.  Mist the bag all over alternate the two colors until you get the effect you like.  Don’t be shy to mist it, just do it.
And do not forget the handles and the other side of the tote!!!
