Oh we are so excited to feature this amazing scrap journal created by Crew Member, Shannon Green who is not only an amazing artist and designer, she is an amazing person who helps lead our Crew in all the right directions, spread the word about what everyone is doing and she helps where she can along the way. Shannon created this fun little journal that she is going to give away, yes give away!!!! Below she shows you inside her little journal and at the end she lets you know how you can be the lucky winner of this special handmade gift.
Canvas Corp Scrap Journal by Shannon Green
It doesn’t take long for a paper crafter to amass quite a collection of scraps. Sometimes digging through our scrap piles can inspire an unexpected project like this scrap journal. It’s not quite a junk journal, scrapbook or mini album but sort of a combination of all three. It can be used to jot down project ideas and notes or you can add photos and extra embellishments to give it a theme.
Since this was made mostly from a box of random scraps, it would be difficult to provide step-by-step instructions but I’ll show you lots of photos that will hopefully inspire you to create something similar from all those paper scraps you’re hoarding. Don’t deny it, I know you’ve got ’em!
I began by collecting any paper scraps, images and ephemera I could find that were black, ivory, kraft, or any combination of those 3 colors. Since these were scraps I can’t list all of the Canvas Corp paper collections I used but if you have a question about a particular paper or image just ask and I will try to look it up for you.
I folded an extra large kraft paper bag in half and sewed three 4 x 6 black and ivory file folders in the center.
I added envelopes and made pockets for tags and extra embellishments.
I used punches to make hearts and other shapes.
Some pages have space to write while others are decorative.
Images from the Heirloom Collection papers are some of my personal favorites!
When in doubt add a pocket or tuck spot and don’t forget some textured papers too!
Keep some punched shapes handy to add later on.
Lined papers can be decorative or used for writing.
Every pocket or envelope should have a little something inside!
Writing pages can be covered with embellishments later if you change your mind.
Add extra pages by inserting an envelope.
Add extra journaling areas with scraps of lined papers.
Don’t forget to finish the back!
