How do you like to store your recipes? Do you like to have them all handwritten in an album or on recipe cards? Do you have your great-grandmother’s recipe cards stored away in a little box, or do you like to go the tech route and save them all on a Pinterest board? Today, Ilana Polakiewicz has her recipe binder here to share with us today. It is such a beautiful inspiration of a creative way to store those family favorite recipes.
We love how well Ilana used our food and kitchen themed papers, and her creative use of Tattered Angels paints gives this binder the finishing touches that it needs! Read on as Ilana explains her inspiration for this project. Canvas Corp offers a wide range of food, kitchen, wine, beer, cooking, etc. papers and embellishments that are so perfect for your creative projects. Created in neutral colors they work well with any theme. Don’t forget the Holiday Baking line too filled with cooking and baking artwork.
Christmas is approaching and so are colder days and time to come inside a craft a bit. Surprise your friends and family with beautiful recipe books this holiday season and preserve your family and favorite recipes.
Life is beautiful and it becomes even more beautiful when we create pretty objects, environments, looks and moments. Yes, each of these items requires dedication. I don’t like to say that this gives you a lot of work because I think creating beauty gives us pleasure. Besides being a super investment in our health. I believe we feed ourselves by all means. And the eyes are no exception. Beauty nurtures, let our self-esteem up. Who doesn’t like to see a well-set plate, a well-set table, a well-made floral arrangement or a cool lightning? I love it!
Sometimes a simple object can turn into a different item and becomes a home decor item, is not true? This binder is one of these items. It was ordered by a friend of mine who enjoys cooking and wanted a place to store her delicious recipes. She gave me freedom to create and I ended up composing a vintage look using Canvas Corp papers that have everything to do with food. The process to make it was similar to the creation of my 2016 agenda cover. Here is the video for my agenda cover:
But this time I used glimmer mists instead of acrylic paint. I played with colors that remind food. Dijon and It’s Orange for instance were used to simulate mustard and tomato sauce splatters. The marks made with Black Orchid appear to have been caused by drops of wine. I used real coffee and Sun Sisters to age the surface of the binder and create a shabby overused look. To finish I used a matte spray varnish to waterproof the binder.
I hope this binder can store the recipes, be a home decor item and also a part of happy moments with good food and great people.
