Dream. Imagine. Design. Create. These are 4 of our favorite words and Crew Member Ewelina Gryglak brings them to life in this purple and black work of art. The variety of tones really shows us the texture and detail that is used to create this mixed media piece. Choosing one color and accenting it with black makes a very strong statement. We love art that is made for spaces in the home and Ewelina made this special piece for her kitchen. If you make wonderful pieces and keep them locked away in your craft space, consider letting them out or making items in colors that match the spaces in your home and show them off.
I wanted to make something to put up in my kitchen, which is a mix of dark purple, lime green and black. I decided to make a purple-ish ‘motto’ board and put it on one of the smaller green walls. As we are quite creative family, the tags with Dream – Imagine – Design – Create seemed like a perfect heads-up for us. I wanted to make it homey (for some reason cross-stitch hoops make me think about my mum and nan) and, at the same, time kitchen-friendly (hence the use of paper straws in the project). Once finished, everyone loved the outcome and my mother-in-law claimed it for her living room – now, I need something new for the kitchen so watch the space. – Ewelina

Ewelina created this video to show you how she created this piece and help you walk through the steps to make your own mixed media embroidery hoop art.
Layer different colors of purple together to give a trendy fun look.
Modern fonts and simple words make a great statement for art displayed in the home.
Be free with paint splotches, drips and dots to give a very artistic look that is actually pretty simple to do.
Purple is one of the colors for 2017 – we think Ewelina does it just right.
Happy Creating!!!

Wow! I really like this piece. Adding the hoop, no only gives that homey feel, but add the imagery of create. I think that we all have favorite colors we like to work with…mine is teal. Now I know what I can with all my tons of teal flowers, ribbons, accent with black and white. Luckily, teal goes with burlap. Thank for sharing this wonderful piece.
