‘I created this canvas for the Fall season for my house. I love that pumpkins can last from mid-September through November! They are so bright and add colour to the surroundings.’ – says Chris Pozzi, the author of today’s project.
What better base to use for a natural focused project than a stretched piece of burlap. Our stretched burlap is made with natural jute fibers and there is no gesso or top coat applied, making it the perfect natural surface to accept your favorite paint, dye, ink, mist, iron-on, rub-on, etc. Or you can follow Chris’ example and use it as a background for a gorgeous design from one of the Mixed Media Origins papers. Whatever you do, you will love how your art looks on our stretched burlap.
Chris used the following:
Canvas Corp 8×8 burlap canvas
Canvas Corp Mixed Media Origins Mini Art Pumpkins
Canvas Corp mini clothespins natural
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Summer Glow, Pumpkin Spice, English Ivy, Emerald Green, Mountain Mist, Tattered Leather
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze – Saffron
Lace
Wooden Thankful die cut ( Woodpile Fun)
Paint pumpkin highlights on Mixed Media Origin Paper with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Summer Glow and lowlights with Pumpkin Spice.
Paint leaf highlights with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Emerald Green and lowlights with English Ivy.
Paint the image background with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Mountain Mist.
Paint a wooden die cut with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze Saffron.
Re-color white lace by spritzing with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Tattered Leather. Once dry, attach it to the Mixed Media Origins paper to create a frame. You can sew it on or use glue – whichever is easier for you.
Attach clothespins to top of the stretched burlap – make sure you use a permanent adhesive that will keep them in place and hold the weight of the paper hanging from them. Hang the finished ‘painting’ from the clothespins; add the painted wood die cut to bottom of canvas.
This simple and easy canvas will be a beautiful addition to your Fall decor or as a piece of Thanksgiving display on your mantelpiece. However you decide to show it off, we’re sure it’ll attract many compliments from your family and friends.
