I taught a class recently using the Farmhouse Christmas Collection and other wonderful Canvas Corp Brands supplies. I created two separate pages that together make a stunning double-page spread with a rustic Christmas theme. I wanted to share with you my double page layout as well as how I created the Christmas Tree.
1. Begin by cutting (24) 2″ x 3″ pieces of Frayed Cotton paper from Tattered Angels. Then using Sizzix Tattered Pinecone die, cut fir branches.
2. Spritz diecut image with water.
3. Randomly paint your fir branches with Glimmer Mist ~ Safari Green, Glimmer Glam ~ Organic Garden, Glimmer Glaze ~ Sea Kelp, giving your branches highs and lows!
4. Cut a triangle from Canvas Corp Ivory Burlap, 7″ high with a base of 4″
5. As the fir branches are drying, crumple them to give them depth. Adhere branches to burlap using Multi Medium beginning with number One.
6. Fill in spaces with Petaloo Darjeeling Petite flowers.
Create the remaining layout as pictured. The base paper is a fabulous new paper from Canvas Corp that is purely journal lines on ivory paper. It’s so versatile and easy to work with. If you like your handwriting, you can write a message directly onto the lines. and that amazing black and ivory zigzag paper that is pictures also comes from Canvas Corp.
For those darling stockings, I cut them from the Farmhouse Christmas Stripe on Ivory and painted them with some various Tattered Angels paints. I especially love how the Petaloo flowers match Canvas Corp’s rustic themed line so perfectly.
The burlap and lace trim worked wonders together. Just look at how they’ve added so much texture and pop to the layout!
I hope you enjoy this layout as much as I loved making it! Don’t forget to visit my personal blog, The Next Best Thing, for more inspiration and ideas.
