Friday with FRIENDS: CCB and Tonic Dies

Welcome to our latest segment of Friday with Friends.
Today we have Crew Member Leanne McAlpine showing us how well Tonic Dies “plays well” with Canvas Corp Brands products.

In LeanNe’s Words

I am what is known as a Tonicaholic-I am addicted to products from Tonic studios.
Tonic is renowned in the craft industry for their quality dies and I have to say Tonic dies are second to none.
The company is based in Wales in the UK and began by producing quality cutting supplies such as scissors and guillotines
before progressing onto dies. They produce several ranges of products including products by Tim Holtz.
For me Tonic, make the best dies for 3D projects whether that be bags, boxes or memory books. Today I’m sharing with you a project I made combining Tonic and Canvas Corp Brands Compose Your Life Collection. These papers are perfect for decorating 3D projects an they die cut perfectly. When Tonic produces their dimensions die sets they not only include the essentials to make that project but lots of extras to add finishing touches. This particular set contains 23 dies!

Step 1

Step 2

Next, I adhered the paper panels to the bag base. I use red liner tape for this as the edges of the bag have a slight curve to them. I used clothes pins to hold it together.

Step 3

I then fussy cut one of the flowers from the remains of the paper. The design of this paper is perfect for fussing cutting. I also cut into the design to enable me to add some dimension to the leaves by pinching them.

Step 4

I then cut a large decorative tag from Kraft Cardstock and a smaller tag from some of the left over paper.

Step 5

Next, I cut the “enjoy” sentiment from the Kraft Cardstock. I then used Tattered Angels Rustic Glimmer Glam paint to color it. I also applied Glimmer Glam to the centers of the fussy cut flower and the flower on the tag. This technique added a subtle shimmer.

Step 6

I added twine to the tag and attached, as shown, before adding the fussy cut flower to the bag front with a foam pad.
