I live in the Washington DC metro area, but grew up on the southwest in Arizona.

I like to include a key, in all my projects, if possible.
Try something new just for the difference, where no big commitment or added expense is required. For example if you’re used to mostly making layouts, alter a box (use a discarded box or get a paper mache box for a couple of bucks) and use embellishments from your stash. You just might end up making that perfect gift for that special someone. Keep an art journal and play in it. If you find yourself with no idea what to create. Make a pages with just texture using mediums, collage paper, fabrics, lace, stencils, or use elements in nature and paint it using a limited pallet, using 2 or 3 colors. When you are done, maybe you’ll discover that something you did would look great in your other projects. If a concept enters mind, follow it; might be your muse. Maybe you got it in your head the concept of circles. Then make circles; little one, big ones, filled in, empty ones, wonky ones, patterned one, you get the idea. These are exercise I’ve done and found helpful.

I can do the following at the same time: Tap my head with one hand, rub my belly with the other hand, cross my eyes, roll my tongue, and walk backwards. Five things at the same time; how’s that for multitasking.
Everyday, even if it’s only for 15 minutes or hours.
I keep ideas stored in the old noodle and I create as I go
