Finding an item at a swap, on the curb, or at a garage sale that would normally go in the trash or is no longer wanted and turning it into a piece of art is so much fun! This is exactly what Natassa Blazaki did with a container she found, she saw what it could be, not what it just was… the Altered Art Sailboat was born…
“In this project, I focused once again in creating a natural texture. I’m always so fascinated by the way wood is worn out by the salt and humidity of the sea. Summer time in my country Greece, is all about sea scapes. A beautiful image I had in my mind was that of an old broken wooden boat laying under the sun, on an isolated greek beach. How many adventures she must have had in her life and how many stories she would have to tell…So, I tried to recreate this image by altering a tin container andit to look like that old boat of my imagination. I really hope you enjoy the project and get inspired to experiment with textures and colors. It’s so much fun!” – Natassa shares her story with us.
It does sound amazing and extremely interesting, doesn’t it? If you’d like to watch the artistic process, Natassa has prepared the below video for you:
