Lena Holmström is our main CCB Gypsy and the queen of upcycling!!!
Even her Christmas decorations reflect her love for everything re-used and recycled.
Let’s have a look at her upcycled rustic Christmas decor.
Christmas tree
Oh, my! How I love dried branches!!! I got this idea when I saw an old frame. It was perfect for this Christmas tree project!!!
The frame size is 57x79cm or 22 7/16 x 31 7/64 inch.
No glue or nails needed here. All the pieces are tied together with cotton canvas strips.
The big bow on top is made of white cotton canvas, black canvas and red burlap.
To add the festive feel, I wrapped some lights around the whole assembly.
Isn’t it gorgeous???!!!
Joy, Love and Peace
This is a wall decoration for our home – Joy, Love and Peace. I wanted to make something that was not just for Christmas. At home, I found 3 pieces of old wood and from that I got that idea to make this wall hanging.

Wood 3 pieces
White gesso or paint
Screws and wire
You will need 3 pieces of wood. Each piece is 3 15/16 x 11 27/64 inch.
To create your base, cover the all the wood with black paint.
Put the wood together with screws and metal wire.
It doesn’t need to look neat and tidy – I didn’t want it to look neat and tidy!
Using white gesso and letter stencils add words – I chose JOY, PEACE and LOVE.
Use cotton canvas and burlap fringe to make a bow or two.
Big wooden Christmas Star
I also wanted to make a big Christmas star to hang on one of our walls and … I did! A piece of old wood and a bit of paint and that’s it. So easy to make!
The star’s dimensions are 77x77cm or 30 5/16 inch x 30 5/16 inch.

White gesso, Verday Patina Paint; Iron
chipboards from scrapiniec.pl
Cut a piece of old wood so that you can build a star (as above).
Randomly paint all over the star using Black gesso and Decor&DIY paints.
To hold together the wood pieces, I used metal T-joints.
I used chipboard “Believe in magic” sentiment and thread pulled from a sheet of canvas as embellishments.
I also added Architextures rosettes on some the arms.
Have a great Christmas!!!
