This project brings a smile to our face and when we picture it with the 2000 other pigs that Zuzia’s Mom has collected we are proud to be in good company. Zuzia, one of our Crew Members, was excited to share this mixed media project with you, because she had so much fun making it. Zuzia gathered all her Tattered Angels paints in one color family and the results are so very fun.
We love how Zuzia swatched the paints before starting, what a great idea and you can start a ring of swatches to refer to for each project.
I decorated this wooden piglet as a gift for my mom. She collects pig figurines and she already owns a collection of around 2000 pigs. Quite impressive. 🙂

This is a fun project to show how you can gather lots of fun things you have around your craft space, even if they are not the perfect color or style, simply paint them up and they will look terrific.
Paint You Pig (sounds like a new dance), paint your cut out with Tattered Angels Decor and DIY paint, this paint does not require any sanding, priming or top coat, just brush on. You might want two coats that is up to you. It levels to a beautiful finish and is great for just about any surface including finished wood, raw wood, plastic, metal, ceramic, furniture, home accessories and craft items.
Now gather your favorite stencil and gesso or molding paste and create the design on the surface of the pig. You can then mist or paint a range of colors onto the stenciled area and the painted wood once the stenciled area is dry. Next you can add stamps or more stenciling to your mixed media surface, have fun, there are no rules.
Next gather flowers, fabric, doilies, cord, buttons, metal trinkets, pearls, stones, leaves, etc. to create your mixed media bouquet. Color them with assorted Tattered Angels paints to give them a cohesive look. The touches of canvas and crocheted doilies looks terrific.
Glue everything into place and you have a very pink, very pretty, pig. So next time you come across a random fun shape even if the colors are wrong, you can paint right over to create a fun project in your color story.
