We love when our creative minds take us to wonderfully unique places and these amazing pieces by Crew Member and artist, Jana Korkecic truly show that you can create your own art with a bit of imagination, some craft supplies and your creative spirit. Each piece brings out the true spirit of the musician with layers of paper, paint and style. Jana uses paper as a painter uses a paint brush and the results are stunning. When we think about trends in mixed media, we often think about new products being used, new techniques, but we don’t often think about the content being created. Jana’s Artist Art pieces take our mind into so many great directions and outside of what we would consider more traditional mixed media and paper craft, you will see one of Jana’s more traditional pieces below and her transition into these amazing pieces.
The art pieces are 40×50 cm or 15.75″ x 19.69″, making a nice statement on their own and together they make a wonderful collection.
Jana captures John Lennon and his ‘Imagine’ spirt with the glasses, the tie dye background and the fantastic beard. Focusing on the areas of the artist we know and love bring such a resemblance of the singer, songwriter and activist. – ‘imagine’
A way to remember your favorite artist, singer or actor is to portray them in a way like no other, your art. Choose the surface, the materials and create. There is no right or wrong and you can see through Jana’s work that she found a way with each piece to focus on a few areas that without question lead you to the musician she is portraying. Michael Jackson from the side almost looks to be in his Beat It dance move. – ‘beat it’
You can almost hear your favorite David Bowie song as you glance at this depiction of the amazing singer who was always willing to live a bit on the edge and think way outside the norm. – ‘just for one day’
Freddy Mercury comes alive with a focus on those stand out parts of his memorable appearance. The songs stay alive even when we love such amazing talent and these images bring back the memories and the events of the time when the songs came into our lives. – ‘don’t stop me now’
Jana created each of these masterpieces with some of the basic papers from Canvas Corp. The entire line of Canvas Corp papers are focused on basic prints, basic colors and the ability to mix and match them, which Jana has done oh so well. The prints actually enhance the designs rather than distract or take away from the overall composition.
Jana crosses over from her traditional mixed media art with photos, stitches and papers used in magnificent ways, to creating a live animated film that features handmade actors and actresses, props and backdrops as seen in her Christmas is Everywhere Stop Motion Animated Movie – read about it on our blog and jump over to see her in action and now from John Lennon to Michael Jackson and Freddy Mercury to David Bowie. Let your creative mind go to place you love, bring to live things you adore and create memories that only you can bring alive.
Jana has made the musician art pieces available for sale. If you are interested in any of them you can message her on her Facebook page.
