When we think of 12×12 paper, we automatically think scrapbooking and paper crafts in many cases, but paper is not just for Scrapbooking. Avid scrapbookers, card makers and paper crafters have stacks and stacks of paper that they hope one day will fill the pages of their scrapbooks, may turn into cards or other creative ideas that come to mind.
When we think of paper, we think of all the possibilities and wow there are so many. From custom wedding invitations and thank you cards to holiday decor and amazing works for art.
Artists, designer and creative soul Jana Korecic shows us how to take a bit of paper, a few drops of paint and loose embellishments to create works of art. Jana combines various papers to take something as simple as the letter “A” and transform it into a work of art. The variety of papers, the scale of the designs and the colors give this piece so much dimension and character.
Jana was invited to show off her work at her exhibition in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Jana uses paper, paint and creativity to bring to life letters, hearts and famous musicians.
Hearts can tell such a story and Jana combines bold and simple prints with cuts in all the right places that she brings back together to make the heart one again. Each of us will interpret the hearts in their own way, but there is no doubt to look at them brings us hope and beauty.
When it comes to musician art, the true artist in Jana comes out. She is able to capture each artist in their true character, with paper. Did we say with paper, yes, that is amazing. She uses paper like a paint brush and the results are amazing. There is no doubt that Jimmy Hendrix is in the house when you gauze into this work of art.
“Imagine” what can be done when you look at the papers in your stack as so much more. Using the colors to create hair, glasses, mustaches and the details of the person you are capturing. John Lennon comes to life in this piece and the simple elements that Jana brings together remind us very clearly of the man, the artist, the songwriter and the musician, John Lennon.
